The tragedy of Coppola blowing out the original casting isn’t just the we never got to see Brgnine and O’neal as Vito and Michael, it’s that it also deprived us of Burt Reynold’s Sonny, Paul Lynde’s Tom Hagen and Charles Nelson Reilly’s Fredo.

That movie (for me) was also hurt by the fact that by the time it came out, I had seen Scarface 1000 times and couldn’t get it out of my head that Pacino was playing the same role in both movies.

Yeah...to this day, I can’t tell you what happens in part 1 or 2 because I saw the saga first and it mixed it all up in my head, even though I eventually saw them separately many times..
