Complicated feelings here:

I’m just going to throw this out there as a new product: a phone arm that slots into a drink holder. This stuff’s going down daily. When you get in the car, you put your phone in it, pointed at the window. If/when you’re pulled over, you hit record, no (added) stress. Then you have it.

Brian Michael Bendis for me. I’ve read his Daredevil, X-Men, half his Spider-Man, and a third of his events and Avengers (I was late to the party). I like his work lots, and love ideas he throws out, but there’s ultimately a fizzle, like the roller coaster goes up the hill and doesn’t have a place to go. I don’t

They had about five years of A from ‘88 to ‘94 or so, from Music For The Masses to whenever I Feel You came out. Everyone has their own peak time though.

Trailer Park Boys season 4 hit an A apex when Conky appeared, then went downhill. I think to register it as an A, you needed to see at least from season 3, but stuff was happening there: Bubbles is nuts, Ricky is Ravine, and Julian is Sexy.

Howard, who’s been in my mind over this whole Solo thing, is an incredibly competent filmmaker. Probably Night Shift was the most exciting thing he did. With him doing Solo, I can’t think of anything he’s done that I love, much less love due to the direction. The man directs a movie like McDonalds makes a hamburger.

Now, I never saw Coty of Men, despite a decade of intent, but I saw Y Tu Mama Tambien in the theater and it still echoes with me to this day. I need to watch it again to call it an A movie, but I definitely would have ranked it that way when I saw it. His Gravity and a Harry Potter were strong Bs for sure.

Rushmore tapped it for me. It’s smallness let it reach those size-appropriate heights. As his movies got bigger, they didn’t quite proportionately hit those same heights, as much as I liked most of them.

This person wants to be a politician? She is at least the stupidest person I’ve seen in the last 24 hours. I’d love to use a lot more hyperbole, but the bar for stupidity in American culture is pretty high these days.

I might just be a boring, pretentious art major, but I read Elizabeth’s pic as being by someone who views the world at a distance, encased in a shell. Metaphorically, it rang extremely true. She can see the world as is, but needs a layer of distance to do so; which is to say, it’s filtered.

I watched it in a full theater here in Japan. Not a peep from the audience save for a chuckle here and there. Manners, you know?

I’m still digging the people I can remember on THR he show. Chelsea isn’t much of a character yet; with Survivor, it’s always a hard call between a boring person or just sexist editors. There’s always a lot more invisible female contestants.

Wow, that’s awesome. Thank you!

I’ll have to plan accordingly. I’m on Amazon Prime in Japan, and the HBO stuff just showed up a month ago. I’m splitting a rewatch between Curb and Sopranos, and enjoying Six Feet Under season one with the wife, who needs subtitles.

Episode one was pretty dull. Unless every podcast I listen to suddenly hypes the hell out of it, I’m out. All text, zero sub-text. Either you think the kid freezing in space water is something to hang an hour on, or you don’t. There is a sci-fi TV boom, and if you don’t have a hook beyond a ‘60’s show (or for a

We’ve had a similarly disgusting situation up in Canada, maybe even a little worse. Toronto’s ex-police chief Julian Fantino, who famously compared legalizing green to legalizing murder, decided to invest in the newly legal business, after decades putting poor people in jail for it. It shows just how hollow their

I’d never seen that, and now feel worse because of that. Ugh.

Live in Japan, my wife’s Japanese.

I used to loathe cowboy boots in urban areas, but then I moved to Japan. Not daily, but you see women in cowboy boots and dresses, and I was shocked how attractive it was to me when the girls wearing it weren’t blue-eyed girls named Jessica. I think part of it was just how culturally confusing it was.

White guy post.
