I think the ability to Boo (dislike) a level has helped with this considerably in Super Mario Maker 2. The levels I’ve gotten in my endless challenge run, while not particularly amazing, were certainly a million times better than the average level I’d get in 100 Mario Challenge in the first game which is to say I

There is a vetting process: if your level gets booed repeatedly, it won’t show up as often in endless challenge.

Stupid Kinja randomly double posting...

From what I had read, Super Expert starts you with 30 lives instead of 3.

It’s my understanding he only appears via the “knock on the door” cameo trick from the first game: the weird mushroom itself is sadly gone.

The funny thing is my impression of when they brought up the map in the first demo was “Oh, that kind of looks like Metroid Prime’s map!” I’m surprised more people didn’t pick up on that.

If the article has taught me anything, it’s that you should now lure someone into the water and try to drown them to refill your bars.  It’ll at least make you feel better.

You’re thinking of The Outer Worlds/Obsidian.  The dev team here is not owned by Microsoft.

I did, but they were up to Gen 4 Pokemon so it was a bunch of Pokemon I didn’t know or care about so I uninstalled it again after 3 minutes.  That’s not to say they shouldn’t have kept adding Pokemon, it’s just that I’m not that into the series.

Mine wasn’t even in the sticks, that was the frustrating part. It was more that it was a relatively new area so things that could have been Pokestops weren’t because they weren’t in the database and the only major landmarks marked as Pokestops nearby required walking along a stretch of road with no sidewalks and 45MPH

Yeah, but that magic is usually happening in magical places like a hidden train platform or alley.  It’s not “Oh hey, there’s a magical item in the parking lot of Wal-Mart”.

the idea of traveling around to real-world locations to pretend to catch Pokémon is fulfilling the exact fantasy presented in those games. Harry Potter isn’t quite as directly translatable.

Correct, he was actually a good ghost in Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon.

This is shaping up really nicely. I thought Luigi’s Mansion 2 went a long way towards taking the concepts of the original game and making something more full out of it with fun gameplay elements, but part of me missed the steady progression of going through one large building so this is really looking like the best of

I have no idea if Kinja is going to swallow my image or not, but if it doesn’t I saved my live reaction in a Discord chat. The “This is going to be Banjo” was my hopeful reaction to seeing the same intro with all of the heroes and villains as K. Rool and the all caps started with the Jiggy.

Wrote a sentence?

Really, until the end it was about what I expected given Nintendo had already announced a bunch of 2019 games so it was mostly just going over that. However, BANJO, BABY! BANJO! Sure, we got that Zelda tease which was neat but it was just a tease.

Legitimately everybody who has ever been on a Nintendo console who I have ever wanted in Smash is here.
