They have the Avengers game I just mentioned. Granted, it’s not technically a new announcement since it was teased in 2017, but they’ve shown nothing but “Crystal Dynamics is making it” so it may as well be a new announcement.

But you get Sam Fisher in a mobile game! That’s just as good, right?
Technically even if you aren’t interested in Nintendo, there’s Square Enix tonight with the Avengers game. Granted, they had a horrible show last year, but who knows. Maybe it’ll be good this time around.
I can’t wait for Ubisoft’s big street racer next year, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Rush.
As an impartial observer to both Bethesda and Microsoft’s conferences (Neither company has a whole lot I care about), I actually found this to be better than Microsoft’s due to the sheer fact that they actually showed some gameplay for their games. The filler was terrible, but I could actually look at Doom Eternal or…
Let me introduce you to my good friend, George Foreman.
Yeah, I think you nailed it. Last year their big announcements were Gears 5 and Halo Infinite, neither of which got a big gameplay trailer. This year, their big games were...Gears 5 and Halo Infinite, neither of which got a big gameplay trailer. Even the third party game trailers were all largely teases with very…
I agree that it’s more balanced, but I feel the game at launch didn’t have enough new weapons to really feel like a sequel, and I feel rebalancing isn’t enough alone to make it feel that way since you can rebalance an existing game.
I was actually pretty pleased with what they showed. I was afraid it would be generic open world game #3252 which is getting real old real quickly. At least with generic action game #2998 the linear design means you have to build levels full of neat set pieces to warrant the price whether than scattering a bunch of…
That’s why I’m hoping at the very least a Splatoon 3 will be 2 years out or a late Switch/early next gen title. That would give them the time to work out how to either make it feel like a true sequel or make it the next gen version.
That’s exactly why I don’t think we’ll see Splatoon 3 so quickly: Splatoon 2 at launch felt like something they rushed to throw together in time for the Switch’s first few months. Over time, the additional weapon types, single player DLC, and modes helped it evolve into a more full sequel. I hope the 3rd game will…
I think if anything Splatoon 3 would benefit from a slower development cycle. Splatoon 2 at launch was very similar to Splatoon 1 to the point that I’d guess much of it was planned DLC for the first game that was held back to get something ready near Switch launch. The Switch is already a hit as is Splatoon 2 so I’d…
The rumor is Microsoft will be launching their XCloud service with streaming games similar to Google Stadia, and that the service will show up on Switch this year. So, you’d be able to stream XBox One quality games on Switch.
Part of me feels like this is too soon, but then I remember it’s been 2 years since the game came out and there was only 2 years between Splatoon 1 and Splatoon 2 so it wouldn't surprise me if they were starting development on Splatoon 3 for a year or two down the line.
The rumor is for both some ports and for the streaming service to be on Switch.
I think it’s part of how quickly games advanced through the 80s and 90s. Crash Bandicoot for me felt extremely dated when I first played it in 2000, for example because even by then it felt like other games were doing so much more with 3D movement.
Yeah, 10 years is when I start to say a game is old and 15 is when I say it’s old enough to be considered classic.
My work here is done.
Does this mean Super Smash Bros. Melee is officially an old game?
You make a good point, I didn’t think about the non-Nintendo console crowd given the original Yooka-Laylee was so tied to N64 nostalgia.
