This is about the Syrians in Aleppo, not Americans. The quickest way to stop the war now is to support Assad and the Russians. Only a true intervention could help the rebel cause. The time for realistically supporting the rebels has passed, and it passed under Obama’s watch.

The US, and Europe, have economic leverage with the Russians. But you are right, the removal of the Russians just leads to a weaker and more desperate Assad, a longer war, and more deaths. At this point a quick end would require stopping support for the rebels, which we have not supplied enough of.
