Jean Mahfouz, you coward, answer the question. How would not voting for Biden make the situation in Gaza better?

Framing the Israeli Palestinian conflict as a reproduction issue is cynical. While ignoring the fact that up until the attack on Israel, Israel was frequently treating Palestinian woman with complicated pregnancies. Gaza City would have been a wonderful place for women to have children and children to grow had Hamas

These people are gonna fuck around and bring us President Trump again.

For fuck’s sake, not everything is about Gaza and abortion rights in the US are are already threatened enough, the issue doesn’t need to be held hostage by the war in Gaza.

Sigh. I’m fighting a losing battle here and I know it. But this:

There are equally great stories to be told of human life outside of war, holocaust, slavery, genocide, HIV/AIDs, homophobia

Exactly. Barbie is a comedy. It’s not fair to judge it by obvious Oscar bait standards like Killers or Oppenheimer. It can be exhausting watching the same human suffering films. There are equally great stories to be told of human life outside of war, holocaust, slavery, genocide, HIV/AIDs, homophobia etc. I think

I have the same complaint about Lily Gladstone’s acting or the way the character was written. She had no verve, no insight into the men around her and simply just watched things fall apart. Her mother and sister had more gumption. It didn’t help them, but at least they clocked what was happening. I think there is a

All of this!

It’s worth noting: This is the 3rd time Gerwig had a picture nominated for Best Picture but was passed over for a Best Director nomination.

You’re not moving in with the authors, but reading a novel is a bigger investment of time and mental energy than picking something at random off Netflix. I’ve always been very curious about the political views of the novelists I read, because books don’t get written in a vacuum, and they don’t get read in one either.

Yeah, I mean she’s a cool character, but I really wish they’d stop bringing characters back from the dead. It takes away any dramatic payoff of any character dying when you know if they’re a fan favorite, they will like be back.

The Hugos have been an embarrassing joke for a few years now. Quit playing politics with popular fiction FFS, I neither need nor want any personal knowledge of the author or their real world views, it’s completely irrelevant to me. I’m reading their book, not marrying them.

That’s my one big criticism of Kennedy — that she clearly doesn’t know how to do shared universes, only 1980s/90s-style franchises like Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. She still has a pre-MCU mindset. You don’t need to plan a story in advance, because the brand’s strengths alone are enough. And having vastly

“Star Wars also has the worst fanbase in the world, hands down.”

Star Wars also has the worst fanbase in the world, hands down. The key difference is that George Lucas was a private businessman and didn’t give a shit what the fans thought. It was his thing that he owned entirely — in the words of John Hodgman, “the unfettered emanations of a deranged billionaire mind.” He wasn’t

Because if Star Wars has taught us anything, it’s that going into elaborate, excruciating detail of something that was quickly glossed over in a text crawl is never a bad idea!

I truly hope that season 2 employs a writers’ room. I liked the show we got ok, but I expected a much richer story. Ultimately, for an 8 episode series, not a heck of a lot actually happened beyond setting up things to happen in season 2 or other shows or movies.

Pretty good actually since it’s based on an existing project. I’m curious what happens to Dave Filoni’s New Republic movie since Mando and Grogu were supposed to be in it.

Odds this one actually comes out?
