it’s almost like the writers of this show don’t know to even consider these things...like at least retrieving the lightsabers, and the helmet.

This really is like the worst of Fan Fiction, they’re so enamored of their own story (such as it is) that they can’t be bothered with anything else.

I’m actually willing to give the TV aesthetic a pass. Ultimately it’s a TV show that I’m paying pennies for if I’m using other content on Disney+. At some point you have to figure out a way to make 8 hours ( or 10 or whatever) for something cheaper than a standard Sci-fi Effects laden movie.

It really does have that cheap TV aesthetic to it. The sets give off strong SyFy vibes sometimes.

There are good bones to this show, the general idea and concept. Why is the execution of it all so terrible.

Hey James, now that Gizmodo’s not owned by the herb anymore, how about finally booting the obvious trolls?

“Edgy” and “mature” are not the same thing

Someone, somewhere said that the original comics run of The Boys was like a pizza cutter: all edge, no point, and I feel like that’s something a lot of showrunners need to think about.

The shows don’t need to be most violent or more sexual to be serious adult shows.

I get that Mae is a pre-adolescent and they do dumb stuff, but “I can't live without you so I will kill you for leaving” seems illogical even for an 11 year old.

Young Osha and Mae fully took me out of the episode. I don’t know if it was the actors themselves as child actors can be very hit or miss or if it was how they were written, but nothing about them felt natural. Some of the dialogue and staging was just painful. I wish the whole episode wasn’t a flashback because

Eric Bogosian should play Anthony Bourdain in a biopic.

My reading of Yord is that he is the walking definition of impostor syndrome. It doesn’t take much for him to draw his lightsaber compared to a lot of the other Jedi we’ve seen who seem to save it as a last resort. Deep down he’s obviously scared and it will be interesting to see how the series progresses if he can

The whole “training Jedi from birth” is seriously one of Lucas’ single worst ideas.

Dear god, the way she speaks it’s like she try to seduce and strangle you at the same time.

This was another wonderful episode. The show does a great job of foregrounding women, and the different ways they can exert influence in this particular patriarchy without lapsing into ahistoricism. Incredibly tense scenes between Mariko and Blackthorne at the brothel. I did wonder if the mention of ‘doomed lovers’ by

I meant more like, Andor’s good and its own thing, and I want this to be good and its own thing.

I want it to be a different feel from the other shows the way Andor was different from the other shows. I don’t want it to be like Andor (I’m assuming you feel the same), but to be its own thing.

Now playing

It’s got the wu xia fight in a restaurant, so I guess I’m in.

This looks fantastic. That shot of Trinity...I mean Carrie Ann Moss fighting with the assassin (?) looked so damn cool.

Leslye Headland’s super talented...and this trailer looks great...dare I hope for another Andor situation?
