NC voted for Obama - and has a long history of a democrats at the state level (although sadly not recently). It is a more purple state than you imagine. No state is homogeneous politically. And all people, animals and environments suffer in natural disasters.

It appears you think life is a level playing field where everyone has equal opportunity and equal choices. In reality, things are more complex. Many of the people in the effected area are poor with unreliable or non-existent transportation, spread-out rural population of often elderly or disabled without younger…

I wish it were as easy as you think it is. The eastern part of NC (beach excepted) is quite poor and much of the population is rural and scattered. Many people don’t have adequate transportation to evacuate hundreds of miles away. People with dairy or horse farms can’t leave at all. Many elderly people do not want to…

I’m sure there was no dry spot to stand. Not everyone has a garage or covered area for a generator. But, having said that, terrible accidents do happen, especially when we are stressing out. 

Err...are you including part of the country that are prone to tornadoes, wild fires or on major earthquake faults too? 

Yard sales and estate sales are great places to pick up excellent napkins. Please don’t buy crappy, cheapo napkins that are not soft or absorbent. 

This is great! I don’t know why but my mom (not suffering from dementia) never wanted to drink water (unless it had Famous Grouse in it). Once at the Dr’s office I caught her asking, “Do I still have to keep drinking all of this water?” I think she would have liked these drops...they look like fun.
