"TIL: Eyebrow pencil/shadow can seriously alter one's appearance."

It was my pleasure! I just want everyone to feel pretty and be happy, is that so wrong? And YES to the Black-Tied. I have a great little leather-covered eye shadow palette from a holiday collection many moons ago, and that was the first time I encountered that shade and DAYUM. It's the shizz.

Roo, I popped into my local MAC store yesterday and asked! The MUA recommended: Woodwinked, Cork, and Bronzed. There's also a palette of all the neutral eyeshadows you could ever want- a cool palette for me, and a warm one for you- and it's pretty much a steal at US $89 for fifteen shades. http://www.maccosmetics.com/p

I've been to both the Venetian Sephora and the Caesar's Palace MAC! Liked both very much. Got awesome chatty service at MAC. Had a saleswoman at the Sephora speak glowingly about the time the Queen of England- the real deal- visited the store (wow, don't think so, but I nodded and smiled).

Gosh, I'll get right on that.

Geez, girl, I am sorry that happened to you (even as I'm laughing at your last line). Bad luck all round. I went into my local MAC story (Toronto) before Christmas, with not only no makeup on but no eyebrows or eyelashes either, and they could not have been sweeter and more helpful. At least you and I have both found

Wow, where are your MAC stores?? This is awful! I've had nothing but great experiences at MAC, both in Toronto and in Las Vegas. By contrast, oddly, nothing but bad experiences at Sephora: most recently walking in with a "I'm here to spend money" expectant expression, being totally ignored by multiple salespeople,

Makeup essentials for the girl who never wears it: a nice mascara in a soft black. MAC's "shroom" eye shadow to add just a little light to the lids. A lipstick that's just a shade or two darker than your natural lip colour: for me that's MAC's "Amorous." Maybe a touch of concealer if you need it, Touche Eclat is very

This was just lovely, sweet as a Bellini, a perfect little story to perk up an icy winter day. Thank you!

I know one of those! She even says she doesn't know what the big deal is, she's not awesome at sexin' and barely gives head at all. And yet.

*snaps fingers* YES! That's the one, and that's the whole story. Her role was relatively minor in the giant scifi spectacular, and the smaller film could have really used her star wattage on the opening circuit.

Aaaaand I've run to the end of my pop-cult knowledge here, because I don't know those shows or who hosted 'em or anything. :-(

We'll probably never know. Optics are crucial, nobody wants to come off looking like a petulant control freak.

I like your version better.

I think we mere mortals are not allowed to know the rules of this "game", lest it spoil our innocent enjoyment of Hollywood product! Or something.

I admire her commitment to her principles, but at the same time it seems she shot herself in the foot a little...

That made me laugh out loud! And... yep. Why can I remember the names of two rival Seigneurs in 1600's Acadia, but fail to recollect the location of my other pair of glasses??

I'm betting it's very controversial. Doesn't it seem like it's actually written into their contracts nowadays? Jessica Chastain had two noteworthy roles last year, but her contract with Interstellar meant that she was not allowed to do ANY publicity for other movies within a certain time frame of its release. Which

Bet it's the first option. She pointed out the little man behind the curtain- she called out Hollywood on its bullshit (or something close to it). And now that she's gone farther by telling this story, she's going to have an even harder time getting work. It sucks.

I'm kind of keeping myself away from too much sadness these days. So if you do re-watch Grand Budapest, could you do me a solid and comment here on how you find it? I'm getting an idea that you and I are sympatico on movies.
