In many countries, historically, paler skin was associated with ruling classes and wealth because a fair complexion indicated a life not spent toiling outside in the fields. Asian ladies in my town who shield themselves from the sun with umbrellas are not trying to look like white people, they’re trying to avoid a

I haven’t seen the Dreaded Arrow, probably because my feed is mostly friends, local burlesque and drag artists, tattooists, illustrators, and a few photographers. No celebrities of any alphabetical ranking.

They seem to me like a young and extremely privileged couple- one who was born into a life of wealth and public scrutiny, and one who campaigned and successfully married into same. I didn’t watch their wedding special and won’t be watching this.

And now I’m missing that favourite old feature, Crap Email From A Dude. Good times!

What you did there, I see it. (And approve.)

The only thing I can think of is that royalty is a tourist attraction, and related, Americans have an almost embarrassing devotion to crowned heads. So, the longish game could be that they’re be marketed to court travel dolla’ dolla’.

You are so right. I mean, as usual.

“Couple of the millenium”- that’s a big stretch, to call it this early in a thousand-year stretch. The millenium is barely old enough to have its driver’s license. But I see the Cambridges are getting right out in front of the recent scandal over “what exactly are they doing with all that taxpayers’ dosh” by being

This story is giving me shades of that astronaut love-triangle a few years back, where astronaut/jealous mistress was out for revenge on her cheating boyfriend’s other flame, drove in a diaper many miles with implements of kidnappery. At some point, it’s like high school mean girls with more money and resources, but

No, this is not where it’s leading at all. I’m refuting your baseless claim that the unvaccinated pose no risks other than to themselves, and you’re ignoring that to put the blame right back on potential victims. Weak trolling.

Haha, flawless!

When my mother was pregnant with my sister, she was invited to tea with a lady who only bothered to mention partway through the visit that her kids both had rubella. My sister was born deaf.

Don’t forget spelling! Maybe that “techincal” degree came from Trump University.

Incorrect. Children to young to be vaccinated are at risk, as are people who are immunocompromised: for example, people with AIDS, and cancer patients recieving chemotherapy. If I had gotten a preventable illness from an unvaccinated tyke whilst fighting cancer, I would have been PISSED and also possibly dead.

Sadly, there is no way to prove what the average Canadian thought or recognised ten years ago. I posit that Jian was a rising star then, and you say that he was not yet a big star, so it looks like we’re both right.

I saw it. It was very, very pretty. Peter K is a bit miscast as the lead Christopher (not Benjamin?)- he has the solidity and confidence, but he looks a little... um... shopworn in the role. Perhaps he’ll improve. All the secondary characters have been introduced and appear to be strongly cast. I mostly can’t with

That’s not why people think he did it.

Ten years ago, Jian was the summer host of the CBC Radio flagship show Morningside. “Just radio?” you might think, especially if you’re not Canadian, but it was beloved across the country. Live with Regis and Kelly would be an equivalent in reach and popularity. I remember thinking “who is this smarmy jerk and why is

The judge noted that the verdict in no way meant the assaults didn’t happen, only that the Crown witnesses did not meet the very exacting burden of proof.

Au contraire, he was a giant media star in Canada, and well known to public radio listeners in the US. Believe me, when that interview aired here everybody knew who Jian Ghomeshi was, while Zoe Kazan was a new and unknown quantity.
