Yeah, this was a dud of an episode, but at least we got Sue and Ralph, and confirmation Real!Singh was not the mole.

Cocoon really stayed with me. He was wonderful.

Now playing

All respect and love to Brian Dennehy and his memory, but I doubt I’m alone amongst 90's kids when I suggest that the first thing that would come to mind for a lot of us on hearing this news would be this:

Even though he didn’t actually do it, “Brian Dennehy” showing up in the middle of South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut’s inspiration song “What Would Brian Boitano Do” always cracked me up.

Cocoon, Presumed Innocent, and maybe my favorite role of his was in a movie nobody probably remembers called Gladiator in the early 90s. He was such an imposing villain. I loved it.

Ooh!  And now we can read more pieces critically reassessing TV of the past!

WHO ARE YOU TO REFUSE A RAPPING CGI RABBIT DURING THE CREDITS?!

A solid yes on Robocop! Kurtwood Smith by himself is a quote generator in that movie and so much of it is his delivery.

Robocop is my top one along with Airplane and Monty Python’s Holy Grail... less obvious runner up Goodfellas.

Okay if the show really went with “Izzy killed Alex and faked the letters,” that would be a bonkers way to redeem a weird exit, and I would totally watch a Trial of the Century episode where they bring Katherine Heigl back. Fuck it, lean into it, go for broke.

As tired as I am of Disney remaking its animated hits as live-action (or “live-action”) blockbusters, at least with Mulan they’re trying something that might result in a worthwhile blockbuster, instead of a hollow shell of a movie into which nostalgists eagerly dump bucketloads of cash.

It would be awesome if Daniel Craig had a totally different accent this time.

Isn’t that kind of obvious, since he’s inspired by Agatha Christie-style mysteries? There’s always a new setting, a new cast of characters, and a new villain.

It is astounding the mountain of crap companies sell that are just Star Wars or Harry Potter or Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees versions of regular stuff.

To be honest, I wish the writers would’ve let Alex be just a teensy bit more indignant/supportive in this whole Lena affair; why wouldn’t Kara’s sis be the one to say, “DUDE SHE’S ALWAYS BEEN AN ASSHOLE.”

I disagree, and Kara absolutely DOES get to wash her hands of anything Lena does.  Kara’s secret was hers and hers alone to give out, noone is owed that, not even Lena.  So, Lena learning who Supergirl really was through Lex was the stressor that broke her.   But that’s still on Lena, not Kara.  Kara is 100% not at

She still doesn’t go whole-hog on this plan until after Kara’s “betrayal”, and while it’s sort of a straw that broke the camel’s back situation, on some level she’s going to have to own her own actions. She’s capable of being better than this.

I think the Church of Beebo might have something to say about this.

“Lena didn’t use Kara’s betrayal as an excuse for her actions.”

I dunno, the entirety of her “I will PROGRAM people to be honest and good” seems to be pretty heavily motivated by that.

-The thing I have not loved about the Lena goes evil storyline is that it undercuts a lot of what was great about her early arcs: there were a lot of forces around her (Lillian, Lex, societal expectation) pushing her towards being evil, and she chose to do good things anyway (betray Lillian, all the important science
