Ya missed it, buzz. When you click it, it displays search results for “Iran Nuclear Deal”. You have other more urgent things to crap your pants about than Iran unilaterally forging ahead and developing nuclear weapons in the face of united world opposition because that literally just unhappened.

I’m sure I just meant “through pirate infested waters”, now that you mention it that would not be inside the gulf proper.

Now Iran is forcing SA and others to want to get their own nukes since Iran is getting them.

I would have to go back to my Piratjagt youtube binge from about 6 months ago to souce it. But yes, it’s just part of the international anti-piracy effort, not a tacit agreement.

I’d have to bone up on the subject before I debate you, but I don’t think “increasingly belligerent Iran” is accurate. There was international pressure that stepped up when Iran was on the verge of getting “the bomb”, but that’s not 1:1 with Iran being more warlike.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Iran is not a threat to the US, except vis a vis Israel. Iran is more “western” in outlook (secular, industrialized/tech-y) than our busom buddies Saudi Arabia (religious, free-lunch oil potentate economy), for starters. Despite all the scimitar-rattling and anti-carrier rocket

Am I reading this right?

Well said, can we please start in Damascus with our heavyhanded AC intervention though?

I believe the word you’re looking for is “piratjagt”.

The Seahawks almost faced Clausen twice

Was this really necessary? Could we have maybe just alerted the Somali authorities?

That doesn’t look quite like and F-14 trying to put the pipper on the tailpipe of a jinking Zero, who should be able to force overshoots left and right... but it does show that there is a sweet spot between a Tomcat’s stall speed and the top speed of a prop plane, for the purposes of flat n level formation flying.

I’m just thinking of how ridiculously easy it would be for the prop plane to force the jet to overshoot. Big difference between formation flying and a merge. Me262s and Me163s had that problem facing B-17s and B-24s, the gap there is nothing compared to the gap between a 4th gen Tomcat and a -2nd gen Zero.

Ok so obviously realism is the wrong nit to pick here, but that scene where the F-14s slowly overhaul the Zeros... Zero’s top speed was 330mph, what is the stall speed of an F-14A?

I’m sure she will be fine after the surgery to inflame her eyelids

I checked, you ain’t just whistling dixie.

No. You will hear big noises about a new treaty with the Philippines, and it is true that the Filipino Supreme Court recently reversed itself and will actually allow US troops on Filipino soil again (...), but when you look at it more closely it’s not a mutual defense treaty at all it’s an updated disaster relief

Oh I’m not defending it as a well-designed or efficient system, I’m just saying we’re married to it and we need a better exit strategy than simply turning off the lights and going home.

China doesn’t think it’s such a big deal.
