I agree on Listen, but Kill the Moon may be the most insulting hour of television I have ever witnessed. When the least stupid part of an episode is that the moon is a giant egg, there are serious problems.

Yes, but I was specifically replying to a comment which made mention of none of those situations, and was listing reasons why Fitz hadn't resigned the presidency to be with Liv long before now—namely, that other people wouldn't "let" him.

There is no such thing as an "impartial" reviewer.

Well it's not like Fitz is a grown man who can make his own decisions without having everyone else in his life tell him what to do.

You should never go full Huck.

To quote my favorite critic Abigail Nussbaum on this show, THEY'RE ALL THE WORST.

Probably the only thing every fan can agree on!

Very well said.

Man, I've never even realized those two characters have the same name even though it's a unique name. AoS Fitz is as awesome as Scandal Fitz is terrible.

Fair points.

I don't watch many shows about people having affairs, so I can only speak to this show.

1) I am an English teacher. I know what character analysis is.
2) You are the one who used "Olivia is smart!" as a defense of her relationship with Fitz, a relationship which I and many others have criticized as being horrendously dumb. That's not a valid defense, because you could use that as an excuse for literally

Lots of terrible people are "accomplished." I think I've made it clear that I see both Fitz and Jake as abusive assholes. So to answer your question of who would be better, I'd say someone who isn't an abusive asshole.

1) It's wrong to call Olivia, or any woman, a whore. Period.

Again, Olivia is FICTIONAL. That she isn't afraid of Fitz or Jake (and that Quinn isn't afraid of Huck, a man who tortured her) doesn't mean they're not abusive. It means the writers suck at recognizing abuse, and have glamorized abusive relationships and portrayed them as something desirable.

Just because people find Olivia and Fitz' relationship gross does NOT mean they believe Olivia or any other black woman should be "asexual," nor does it mean we think she should lower her standards. I think she can do far better than either Fitz OR Jake, both of whose are disgusting murderers (though Jake is worse). I

There are plenty of commenters here who despise both Fitz and Jake. Me, for instance. This "Team Edward vs. "Team Jacob" bullshit needs to go away now.

I think she's a tragic character, in the classical sense. Her own flaws create 90% of her problems, not the rape, not Fitz, but her own lust for power. I don't think we should see her as a perpetual victim, though the show sometimes does, as do some fans.

Yes, I agree that she should feel ashamed. She is having an affair with the president of the United States, who also happens to be married, who also happens to be a piece of shit. She then proceeded to date a guy who murdered one of her friends, a man whose daughter was her goddaughter.

"Why do black women always have to be so strong and without feelings?"
