Could Porsche make a lightweight, stripped down version? Sure. They charge more for it, because performance. And what’s better performance than a lightweight removable targa top? A fixed roof.
Despite the 7 second cost adder, I would choose the targa over the cabriolet. Mainly because the convertible 911s have never looked all that good with the top up or down. The older Targas, though better than the Cabriolets, looked bad compared to the coupe.
