"only what is giving freely" doesn't mean it was free to begin with.

looked like he was using a public library. he should be earning money and paying taxes to support that library.
wow that's really interesting... i'm not sure what to think about that... i like the idea for me because i KIND of know what i'm doing, enough to know how to steer clear of crazy danger and enough to know when i'm really gambling etc. I think this is going to be EXTREMELY dangerous. And its definitely going to…
Yea I guess we agree, a straight comparison of promoted plans is not a fair comparison.
right, subsidization here in the US depends entirely on the contract as well. If you want no commitment you have to pay for it by buying your own phone. The 1 c thing, ya i dunno whose idea that was. Pretty stupid.
15 p is about 24 USD according to google right now. We have some carriers that are 'local' that charge little, there's one called cricket that has a $45 unlimited everything. Seems more expensive but as the others have mentioned our plans end up being 'national', so if you were to divide price by the sq km (or miles)…
you said it better than i did, but that's exactly what I noticed when i was over there. Man speaking of which, why doesn't google see the killing they could make going over there? With so many people bouncing between pay as you go carriers and changing numbers etc, a single number with gvoice would be huge for some of…
Well each country has its own operator, so the roaming fee rapage is kind of expected, but that is definitely one thing I was looking at when i was looking at rates back in the day because we traveled between countries frequently. Hell Aachen is about 5 minutes from the border of belgium, netherlands, and luxemburg…
this is a pretty good vid about the effect, kinda funny too
oh and btw i'm well aware that europe isn't a country. I was speaking to what I perceived as a general cultural difference between the EU and the USA. I would hope that Nokia considers each country and market very carefully before setting pricing in those markets, meaning that pricing may even vary from country to…
I don't know that you are entirely correct on your pricing... The last time I got a pay as you go phone in Austria (Dec 2010), I checked out the rates and they were WAY higher. There were more options, so you could get smaller cheaper packages, but especially when it came to data carriers I saw were raping people.…
Well I'll admit, I was phone shopping in Germany in 2007, and a lot changes in a couple years. At least back then and now from what I saw, it seemed like contracts were less prevalent, maybe they are there but people wanted them less. I have no idea if that's really true, that's just the vibe I got in talking to my…
... I guess I"m confused. HDMI is only data... It's all only data, everything is data. And its all digital except the 3.5mm headphone jack. There's no reason a dock couldn't use a USB port and still output video and audio, even acting as a converter for you to then plug into another device like a TV, if that's what…
Europe doesn't have the same kind of phone subsidization that we do, at least not to such a major extent. Its true that Nokia would never be able to take any market share with Lumia unless they 'gave' it away like they are doing here, just because iOS and Android have such huge penetration. That being said, I'm kind…
yea thats what i've been doing. its just silly to me that you cant get similar option to close 'tabs' when you hold the back button to open the multitask list.
i dont necessarily want my browser to start back up at the same place. i dont want it to have to reload some page i was just at. and not all applications unload completely. It does handle multitasking to some extent, at least it does it so smoothly for me it seems like it does.
not sure what you're talking about, i haven't seen any such limit on my sky drive.
if you're talking about stability, you can make a micro usb connection stable with decent cradle design. HDMI isn't much bigger / better than micro USB, althouhg wouldn't fit on the edge of such thin devices. Or would be difficult to fit anyway.
Well I don't disagree, but you also have to seriously consider the purpose of this phone (the lumia 900) and most other windows phones. Nokia PAID me to take this phone practically. That's saying something. People are getting over the fashion icon appeal of smart phones. Now they just want something that will get them…
USB isn't universal enough for you?
