Seems like the setting is in ‘44, so there is at least some light at the end of the tunnel. If they moved it to ‘39, then hopeless would have been a given.

Just an FYI for others, but seems like it’ll also be on Switch and PS4!
I went to college for journalism
Yeah, 4X games can be difficult to get into, particularly if you’re not in the right state of mind. The Switch version of the game is based off the iOS version, which I also have. I frequently bounce back and forth between that version and my PC version. I love the convenience of kicking back and playing some Civ on…
After (I assume it was the devs?) made such a big deal about CrossCode not coming to Switch?! Can’t say I blame them for trying to spur on purchases on the currently available platform but I’m glad I held off - this is the perfect kind of title for a portable.
Gah, such a double-edged sword here. I loved ToCS 1 & 2, but half the reason they're so good is that the characters really work well. It'd be a damn shame if the cast feels completely different solely because the localization goes off the rails. Let's hope they take lots of cues from XSEED's work on the first two.
I really enjoyed my time with Vampyr. I didn’t find the combat quite as odious as others did, but it certainly was not the game’s primary strength. Hopefully story mode will give a lot of people a chance to enjoy the brilliant world created by Dontnod without quite as much distraction from the gameplay.
I’m not saying skill doesn’t play a big part, but luck absolutely does as well (as in essentially any other big boss battle). Maybe you get a balance of attacks that you can handle more easily than others. Maybe you are able to manage a last-second dodge out of a swooping attack that’s caught you 20 times before. For…
I had a very similar experience. I enjoy a reasonable challenge, but anything that’s a “fail a million times until you get just lucky and good enough to win” doesn't do anything for me. I got enough frustration elsewhere in my life and I play games for the variety of experiences, not to validate my twitchiness with a…
I’m finding Octopath Traveler is great in spurts - great music, compelling battle systems, moderately interesting character stories (even if they don’t really come together to weave a grand tale of politics and intrigue). I do get a bit burned out playing it for more than an hour or so at a time.
So Wolverine basically goes Genghis Khan at some point?
Git ded
This seems like it’d be a solid game to pick up on sale about six months from now. Frontier has done a good job with other park management sims (Planet Coaster) and the wait might give them enough time to work out a few of these kinks. But, of course, patience: easier said than done.
Well, I’m at least with you on the online multiplayer part. After getting destroyed regularly because I’m no longer a teenager with ultra-fast twitch reflexes, I pretty much swore off the entire genre.
Glad to see someone else appreciated this aspect of Frostpunk. I know there are a decent number of negative reviews from people who were really hoping for an endless city-builder type game, but I loved the unique challenge and resource management aspect. Not necessarily a huge survival game player personally but…
Damn, really? This has been a pretty solid year for me thus far, though admittedly I am rarely playing the latest release and more frequently working through my backlog. That said, I’ve played BattleTech, Frostpunk and God of War, all 2018 titles, and really enjoyed all three. Nothing wrong with going back to the…
+1 phrasing, boom.
BattleTech is so good. Definitely plenty of rough edges (that dynamic camera/zoom when you initiate an action...ugh) but the game really sank its hooks into me and I enjoyed the 100ish hours I spent with it.
How are you liking Mooncrash? I played Prey last summer and enjoyed it a ton - way more than I was expecting. I’m not a huge roguelike fan but the idea of having an excuse to play some more Prey is enticing.
Surprisingly?!?!
