Publishers have sabotaged their own Wii U releases since the system launched. Mass Effect 3 Special Edition? They release Mass Effect Trilogy 2 weeks before with a $40 price tag vs Mass Effect 3's $60 on the Wii U. Rayman Legends and Deus Ex? Delayed so they can port the games to PS3 and 360. Assassin’s Creed 4,

This is a damn joke! They delayed the WiiU version of Darksiders Warmaster edition; now they announced that it’s coming in May; then they have it in this Humble Bundle for PS4. They really don’t want this game to sell on WiiU. I was going to purchase it on WiiU if it actually came out simultaneously with the other

How is this even a conversation? Yes, taking free stuff from the people you are covering can and does affect your evaluation of them. And yes, that quote is PR not reporting.

I have no doubt that he’s being honest, and again, I think he does great work. But Microsoft flying them out for an exclusive PR hardware reveal, complete with marketing copy lines like “Nor can the number of compute units and teraflops represent the passion the Xbox team has injected into this project,” feels a

Appearances are important, as is avoiding the feeling that you’re there because a company paid for you to be there. Even subconsciously, that can influence your coverage by making you feel grateful to the company for flying you out and putting you up.

Kotaku has a “no junket” policy and does not accept travel from the people we cover. When we go to publisher/developer events, we pay for our own flights and accommodations.

I agree - they do incredible work, although I must admit that this morning’s string of breathless Scorpio previews (and the fact that Microsoft paid for their trip) made me raise an eyebrow.

This game has turned into a god damn nightmare. It’s unreal how bad it has gotten, and no, it’s not just me, because many top, well known players say the same thing.

I once again want to try to bring some sanity to this discussion. Please don’t vent your anger at Atlus USA or Atlus EU. They are simply doing what they are told to do by their parent company. Please direct your complaints to Atlus JAPAN, and thank your regional localizers for their hard work.

Really hope that the backlash gets even bigger until they remove this restriction for streaming. I love this game but knowing this in my head makes the game less enjoyable to be honest.

Wait for it to go on sale. There’s plenty of game here in the $30-40 range, but it is not remotely worth full price.

The hell? Only idiots blamed one developer. As far as I can tell, pretty much everybody was blaming EVERYBODY over at EA and Bioware because they somehow managed to fuck all the fun out of the Mass Effect IP while producing a game that was meant to set up an entire new lineage of Mass Effect titles. They deserve to be

It really bothers me the way people get sucked into the meta-narrative of a games development.

Yes, the online campaign was wrong and bad.

“This guy tried to sexually harass me a dozen times so then I moved in with him.”

Not that I’m generally keen on defending big corporations, but I don’t really see how that’s a bad thing? Like, they’re right: the Switch needs more games than Nintendo themselves can provide to be an attractive prospect to an audience beyond Nintendo core fans, and offering incentives to indies to port and/or

“Designed for gamers by gamers.”

An incentive that is easily abused. If people want to play custom games they will. WC3 had a robust custom mode without any need to incentivize people to play. Same thing with DOTA 2 right now.

Or: just remove xp from custom games. Was dumb for them to include it in the first place.
