At the very least Nintendo keeps things interesting and pushes boundaries that aren’t even on MS and Sony’s radar. Without Nintendo, we wouldn’t have motion control on any consoles today.

The video game industry is healthier with more competitors, not fewer. Unless everyone just converges to PC, we’re all better off with Nintendo making hardware.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
Deconstruction Videos > Destruction Videos
I get so much more pleasure watching this than someone just smashing the product they bought.
I just discovered the message on my European pro controller as well. I never, ever would’ve looked in that particular spot - a secret message indeed!
The Nintendo Switch’s Pro Controller is partially translucent, meaning that you can look inside the guts of the…
so... a retro style Hong Kong crime movie with the Sleeping Dogs sticker on it?
He looks like he could be the protagonist of Sleeping Dogs 2...
When this was first revealed, did anyone else see Torbjorn, Widowmaker, and Reinhardt and think it was a Warcraft shooter? I thought Torbjorn was a dwarf, Widowmaker was a Night Elf, and Reinhardt was a paladin.
That is really intresting. Because while I think Overwatch have a really nice ar direction, Torbjörn is one of the least visually ones. Compare him to Symmetra, Pharah, Dva or Zenyatta. He is just sort of a classic Warcraft dwarf visually.
No understanding or appreciation for the source material. Paint-by-numbers style uninspired script writing. Overly contrived, superfluous set pieces. Limited or barely workable acting, directing, so forth. Over-reliance of cheesy gimmicks.
I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s all gimmicks and brand power. It’s a sleek, very powerful handheld that looks, plays and sounds great. The TV docking feature is nice, but really this is a handheld. And it’s a fantastic handheld. It’s just a middling home console. And with backward thinking like friend codes,…
When I got my PS4 on launch day, it had Killzone and Knack. The first is a generic and forgettable first person sci-fi military shooter. The latter is a horribly boring platformer. Until Infamous came out, it gathered a lot of dust and was a Netflix box for the better part of 6 months.
I would argue that the gimmick you refer to is a great unique selling point, not having the separation of progress from when you’re home and on the go.
I still don’t see what makes Nintendo so different from the other guys though. MS had kinect that they have abandoned a year after. Sony’s controllers have useless LED lights that shorten the battery. VR in general just looks like I’m playing the Wii with a $300-$800 TV on my head.
Also the fact that you are saying you have played this already a million times over tells me that you don’t really care much for Zelda itself considering each one is entirely different with only the core formula being the same. The environments and bosses are usually very creative and different in each game. Plus this…
You should probably look into how difficult it is to make an open-world ‘sandboxy’ type game with a ‘Zelda skin’ painted onto it. Its not just like they take the same code and add a few new images and done. This game is built from the ground up to be an entirely new experience. Not only that but at least Nintendo…
You are so right, it’s just a skin which is why it has a 98 on metacritic because all the non special games get high scores like that.
Go read some reviews before you spout nonsense about a game you haven’t played.
Did you read Zelda’s Kotaku Review ?
If, like me, you could really use the ability to play console-style games on the go, Zelda isn’t just a great game but proof that the basic TV-to-portable set-up for the Switch works great. Because of that, I’m happy with my Switch already. I can play this amazing Zelda game in any room of my house, on the subway and…
