I had the pleasure of volunteering for President Bush sr. in 2000. We worked on an initiative for childhood leukemia funding. Eight years later my husband and two sons were killed in an accident. I had not had any dealings with President Bush for almost 7 years. A few months after the accident I received a phone call.

I’m up here in Sacramento County trying our best to breathe, and WE DON’T WANT HIM ANYWHERE NEAR HERE.

No, he’ll set up camp about 100 miles upwind and expect the firefighters to take time out of their work for the honor of hearing him brag about how he could have prevented the fires if he wanted to.

Yeah, I get what you are saying and I agree with it. I like the ensemble aspect of the show but... the show is named “Dr Who” and not “4 people traveling in a TARDIS”.

This film encapsulates that feeling of relief and hope when you find someone else as lonely and disenchanted with the world as you are to laugh about it with.

yeah, there’s that (the thing that’s still so amazing about S5 is the diversity of tones pretty much every week while at the same time everything is tied together beautifully by the theme of fairytales and stories). but you’ve also got Tony Curran as Vincent who really is just one of the best performances in the

The season needs one of those episodes Moffet would have written in the RTD days, like The Empty Child or Silence in the Library

So then, future Senate/Congressional committees will be investigating and Republican Attorneys General will be putting the corpse of Hillary Clinton on trial sometime in the future?....repeatedly?

The Globetrotters.

Will Ferrell feels like bad casting because imagining one of his characters panicking and leaving his family in his haste to escape danger hardly feels surprising. It is the reaction you’d expect from a Will Ferrell.

Point of nuance: Our society and the Republican Party and America writ large was already infected.

Too often we dismiss this kind of stuff as the result of mental illness, but at its core this extremist, pro-US Soccer messaging is domestic terrorism.

I think it’s even worse than that. The way these stories get written, it’s almost like the media just accepts that voter suppression is just another perfectly valid tactic a party can use to win an election.

So rather than trying to deny it happens (impossible) voter suppression instead gets reframed as something like:

In fairness, with over fifty years of sheer content, it’s almost as hard not to do those kind of little callbacks. The weight of its own history is heavy indeed with Doctor Who.

Something like Venusian Aikido (which we also saw in “World Enough and Time” just a few episodes ago!) is one thing, having to bring back an old, old character with a ton of backstory baggage to unpack is another...

Then what does the Hogwarts Express run on, Rowling? Burning house elves? Oh my god, is it burning house elves?

I would vote for President Buffy. As long as she had a cool axe and some stakes.

Not to get too far into politics, but this double episode was the perfect antidote to the other stuff I was watching on TV earlier in the evening--intelligent, funny, and relentlessly optimistic about the ability of flawed humans (and demons) to make themselves better.

I do not understand this fetishization of promotion/relegation. It is not the reason America sucks at soccer, nor is it the reason MLS underachieves. The NBA is one of many basketball leagues in the world, yet it has no promotion/relegation and America is the best nation in the world at basketball, and the NBA is the
