All this while also avoiding the dreaded Sell Out criticism that keeps most big bands away from doing stuff like this.

That’s one of the things I thought of about why I thought the movie was too slow. Scorsese’s movies zip by on it’s own momentum. This movie did not zip or fly or move. It was just long.
My understanding is that a lot of the supernatural stuff was based in Inuit culture. If so, the show made a mistake in delving into it. In fact, the show probably would have done better if they dealt with the culture a little bit more as Inuit women were the ones who killed the scientists and yet the whole plot point…
There’s something about the debate over trans people that is breaking a lot of brains. Once you start going down that path, you start doing things like bringing Elon Musk into the stage with you as if that is something a normal person would like to see.
My brave take is that it depends on the show. Some shows are probably better as an 8-10 episode series. Some shows might be better if they were longer seasons, especially good old fashioned sitcoms. Some shows are probably better if they’re only a few episodes but should be longer because they’re “hang out” shows in…
A couple of tv producers who’ve been doing it for awhile said the new generation of writers have no idea how to construct a 20 episode season as they’re all used to writing for 8-10 episode shows.
Buffy excelled at this. There was plenty of filler episodes but most of them were fun little episodes that filled out characters in the show. Each non-Buffy character got at least one or two episodes a season about them and we got to learn a lot about them. You can’t do that in an eight episode run and you can’t just…
As soon as they can figure out how to do an AI generated recap they will.
I’m so happy to have this show back in every sense of the word. I miss goofy, exuberant Who
Like she’d ever date the Sphere
Hardhome is also great but Blackwater also has Cercei at her drunken best and that might give it the edge.
I don’t know. I watched it and thought it’s not very far from a Scorsese type, Wolf of Wall Street type movie.
Happy Endings definitely deserved a spot. One of the funniest sitcoms of the past oh so many years.
Blue Beatle is not a very good movie but gets a thumbs up from me for making Ronald Reagan one of the villains.
Those movies are on cable a lot and while they’re cringey in a way most culture from the early aughts are cringey (what a horrible time for almost everything), they’re still a lot of fun. They have a lot of energy and inventiveness and do not in any way shape or form take it seriously.
I mean, Baldwin was GREAT in 30 Rock but so was Steve Carrell in the Office and yet Baldwin always beat him to the point it became a joke. They could have at least traded off them. On a side note, it is here I once again point out that Nick Offerman wasn’t even nominated once for Ron F’ing Swanson and for that, the…
I feel like that’s more of a Ringer thing.
That’s always been the case, though. There’s a whole list of TV shows that won every year despite the obviousness that they were better things out there. There’s also a whole list of actors/actresses who never won due to actors being given the award year after year (looking at you Alec Baldwin and Kelsey Grammar).…
