As fantastic as Andor was, and it was, was how absolutely garbage Bobba Fett was. Tony Gilroy is brilliant, if you haven’t listened to him sit down with Maron, check out the PC. It was fantastic,Tony Gilroy is a fascinating dude, as is his family, one of Marc’s best in some time.

It’s not unusual for them to write articles about the film, nor is it even that weird for the insanely positive reviews (that are out of step with the consensus. But this article in particular does not read like it has journalistic origins. It’s a point-by-labored-point attempt to refute all of the legit criticisms of

Yeah arguing that it’s not a white savior movie because it’s not based on a 30 year old white savior movie but even older white savior material is not the winning argument that Luke seems to think it is.

I’m old, so I actually read the covers off of the John Carter books as a kid. Avatar didn’t resemble them in the slightest. In fact, a straight up adaptation, cultural issues and all would have been far better than what we got.

Short-term thinking also explains the most tedious criticism of the first film: that it’s just Dances With Wolves in space, complete with all the problematic “going native” and “white savior” aspects of the narrative. Put aside for a moment the fact that Cameron’s actual credited inspiration is Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Jo

At first I was like, “where’s Big Trouble in Little China”?

If anyone had a boner after getting past that header pic... there’s no sympathy!

Aaaaaaand you just killed all the boners of anyone who reads this comment. Thanks for nothing.

Almost like sex is a totally normal thing that humans love doing!

Yeah, that’s literally the argument I’m mocking. Just because a lot of people say something isn’t the case doesn’t make the opposite true.

Oh my money’s on none. People will find any number of excuses to defend shitty men.

People can’t stop talking about him, so he must be good! Also I’m hearing a lot of things about some indie film called the Room?

By that logic Zack Snyder is the greatest filmmaker to have ever been born.

Sleepy Hollow was the movie that first made me think: is Burton just a great production designer and actually a really shitty director? There’s been far more evidence since then for this hypothesis than against.

All the trailers are a misdirect and this will actually be a faithful remake of the Star Wars Holiday Special with Groot’s species as the Wookiees.

Patton Oswalt said there’s probably a whole James Ellroy novel in whatever the hell happened to turn a guy as happy-go-lucky as he was early on into such a bitter racist jerk.

Do I enjoy his humor now?
No.
Did I laugh my ass off as an 11 year old catching his specials on cable?  Oh my, yes.

Jerry Garcia on Deadheads: “They’re like people who like black licorice. Not everyone likes black licorice but the people who like black licorice really like black licorice.” Sounds legit.

If Larys’s thing wasn’t burning people’s houses down, he could have just deported her to Sweden, along with Roman Maronie.

It’s Cabin and Eve not Cabin and Steve!
