What is "here's your sign" supposed to mean? Does the sign say, "I'm a moron", or something like that? I've heard him do whole sets where he keeps saying that but never explains it.

I don't think Trump cares about gay rights one way or the other, because Trump isn't gay. He has no interest in policy (unless it affects him directly), so he's likely to defer to his cabinet and Republicans in Congress on most issues. Which means his administration (if not him personally) is likely to be hostile to

So far, I find it to be a beautiful wall of sound, an evening or late-night sort of record. I couldn't tell you what any of the songs are about, which is fine. But as someone who's listened to it more than I have, do you find the lyrics are worth parsing?

Well, it's hard to know you don't like it *before* you've seen it. It featured two beloved characters, so people wanted to check it out.

I've never heard of a podcast with such an insanely high-profile cast. I'm no expert, but I wonder if it's a watershed moment for podcasts in general. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more attention.

Being annoyed by stuff is his job. Sometimes I don't feel like going to work. But I get up, put my pants on, make coffee, and get to it.

Chunt's up with that?

You do realize you're reading "the AV Club proper" right now?
Snark aside, I would have sworn I read a review of the new record here, but I can't find it in the archives, so maybe I hallucinated that.

As I've mentioned around these parts before, I watched several episodes from the first season and liked it well enough. And I believe everyone who says it's great. But from everything I've heard, it gets pretty bleak and depressing, and I've had just about enough of that this year, thanks.

How so?

No offense, but its sounds like you haven't seen nearly enough of the better films to proclaim it a "crappy year" for them.

You're not a dick, but he has a point. You did perpetuate a stereotype there, and I think he's right about the statistics. Or at least he was; not sure if anyone's run the numbers lately.

Yep, this checks out. Co-signed.

Right? So the "twist" is that his wife goes to the same support group as him, but it isn't acknowledged at first? And this advances the plot, how?

I haven't seen the show, but the writeup didn't seem very enthusiastic for such a highly ranked show.

Well, me and my friends and the critics I've read think it's pretty good, and our opinion is the correct one, obviously.
Seriously though, your comic book store perspective is interesting to me. I'd guess that clientele would be more prone to obsessing over such things than the average viewer, but I don't go to comic

At least Dany seems to have wrapped up her interminable desert wanderings. Remember Quarth [or however it was spelled]? I honestly can't remember if that whole sequence had anything resembling a point.

Really? The seasons run together a bit in my memory, so I might be way off here. But it feels to me like there was less of that this year than usual. In fact, if anything I'd have the opposite criticism. It feels like since they went off-book, they've sacrificed some of the world- and character-building and gotten

Outliers aside, I'd say the general consensus is that Stranger Things is a fun ride, albeit hardly groundbreaking and definitely not the best show of the year or anything. Thus, it is properly rated.

Exactly. I've yet to see Rectify or Halt and Catch Fire, for example. But rather than feeling guilty about it, I find it exciting that those shows are basically just sitting there, and I can pick them up at any time. Now if I could only decide which to watch next…
