Not always. 2012 Chevy Equinox 2.4L Ecotec. Interference engine. Timing chain stretch enough at 82k miles to jump a couple of teeth and crash almost all intake valves into the pistons. Car had regular oil changes at recommended interval using only Mobil 1 Full Synthetic.
