NYC has this program - they ran a pilot in 2017 & 2018 and also had a nearly 30% drop in missed dates. Now anyone who provides a phone number during a court proceeding gets this. Would be great to see it rolled out to the entire state.

The issue is that in Texas they apparently don’t use “first-degree”/“second-degree” in labeling murder charges - they just call everything “murder” even though there IS a legal distinction on requirements for charging/sentencing. What’s insane to me is that they’ve ONLY gotten 32 complaints over the last (almost) 4 years? Less than 1 complaint a month? Bullshit. A quick googling shows there are over 4,200 PA State Police Officers in active duty. So assuming there were not multiple complaints against a single officer, less than 1% of officers…
