Well said. If the robot had sentience, I would feel empathetic to it. Even if it’s sentience was in question, I would treat it as if it did have sentience. And also I think I’d get along pretty well with it.

Ah, this makes sense.  The act of creation is tied to identity.  I certainly can understand and appreciate that.

That is odd.  Why?  Why focus on the product rather than the creative process?  Isn’t the act of creation valid without asserting ownership over what is created?

Is it an A.I. problem or a capitalism problem?

Curious.  Why do A.I. images bother you?  Because of the idea that it takes money away from people?  Without the capitalist commodification aspect, would you still feel as strongly about not using A.I.?

You raise some interesting points. I do publish creative work on the internet and I am not bothered by it being used to train A.I. In a capitalist society everything is commodified and that seems to be the biggest issue creatives have with A.I.  Without the commodification aspect, would anyone really care?  Why is the

I didn’t feel like they need to make Aziraphale and Crowley a couple.  Being friends is a more interesting dynamic for them, in my opinion.

I love what Andrews did with J.J.J. and his relationship with Peter.  Probably my favorite part of the story.

From what I’ve read that law doesn’t go into effect until July 2024. So she has some time. But yes, I was concerned about that as well. For myriad reasons.

I’m with you. The first Tron is one of my favorite movies and the animated spin-off Tron Uprising is amazingly good. I can take or leave Legacy though.

As a fan of the original movie as well as the animated spin-off Tron Uprising, I second this with the addendum of never making the movie if they can’t get it right.

Thanks, Kyle for the well-written article.  I often feel like Wikipedia doesn’t get near enough love for the heavy lifting it does.  It really is the aspirational ideal of what the internet should be, in my opinion.

Sadly, so is streaming.  Imagine if all the various studios just continued to license their content to Netflix.  What a wonderous world this would be.  Unless they up the price to $200.  Then, not so much.

A mistake Mack DeGeurin frequently makes is to assume AI is a monolith.  While a conservative school board is using it to ban books, Khan Academy is using it to help kids learn.

So you are saying it is doing us a favor.

As a Star Trek fan that always had room in my heart for Star Wars, I too am disappointed in the current slump SW finds itself in.

They are doing a Starfleet Academy show.  It is in pre-production, but I imagine the strikes will delay it a bit.

And yet, it is also doing this:

It is actually pretty similar to how Betty Banner died near the end of Peter David’s run on the Hulk. Both died from radiation given off by the main character, the different is in the Hulk semen wasn’t mentioned.

I mean, if it can do something about these humans infesting the Earth, then I’ll be happy.
