I would say that Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night are exceptions to your theory that there are no self-contained Marvel stories.  But yes, by-and-large they are part of a larger whole.  I kind of wish they took place in a different universe so they wouldn’t be as constrained.  Or at least they would do a better job…
