Threads uses an Instagram account to access the app, even though they remain two separate applications. Another part of the policy page reads: “Your Threads profile is part of your Instagram account, and may be deleted at any time by deleting your Instagram account.”

Well, at least we now know why Threads is stalled in the EU app stores. I’m sure not being able to delete your account on its own was a huge GDPR violation.

Yep, that’s more or less what I was getting at when I said Meta will eventually close it down. That way they can just roll everybody back into Instagram.
