The fact that this all went down on the first day of the month reenforces the “Musk isn’t paying his bills” theory. Had this all happened in the middle of the month, or if Elon had given everyone a heads up a couple days beforehand, like it was a planned outage, I might give him some credit.

I think that the problems that Elon and his sycophants were having with twitter - fear of liberal thought control and “canceling” of the right wing, were not actually the problems twitter was having- revenue and long term user growth- and that “solving” the former was in fact disastrous for the latter.

I still maintain my original belief, that he bought the app to wrestle control over a large platform of people online, is responding to fawning bigots and autocrats by turning it into a safe space for him, is trying to leverage it for power by doing things like “trying” to launch Ron DeSantis’ campaign, and is doing

So it’s worth noting that this suspiciously coincides with the expiration of Twitter’s data being hosted on Google’s servers, since Elon decided to just not pay his bills anymore.

They have to be hired first before they can go on strike... ;)

Now playing

“Yes, I would give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake.

The GMO writers have been striking in solidarity with the WGA for over two years now.

SAG-AFTRA leadership said its members “should mist... this ...tension ...

Leadership is encouraging us to walk the picket lines with the writers but telling us* we have to keep reporting for work, so it’s kind of like we’re just acting like we’re on strike.

I feel like Drescher and company are underestimating the degree of solidarity membership is feeling toward the WGA right now.

“Need” seems like a strong word. It’s obviously wearable without the strap. They aren’t even sure if they’re going to sell one, let alone how much it’s going to be. It’s not a need.

“Don’t kill anybody for a few days, see what it feels like.”

$3500 AR Goggles, you also need to spend another $500 for custom accesories for it to be actually wearable.

Alan Arkin was reliably great in everything he did. The sad thing about his career is how many bad or mediocre films he elevated. He deserved the cream but he kept getting the curds.

When Anthony LaPaglia is upset that Arkin’s not angry at him, and getting his ass chewed off by the chief, and Arkin goes on to explain that he doesn’t report to a chief, but a quorum, is my favourite passage in that movie.

He had one of my favorite lines in that movie, when Blank asks him what he’s talking about saying he has to quit being his therapist because they’ve become “emotionally involved”:

I have always liked Alan Arkin in anything I’ve seen him in, even if the movie is terrible.

I just rewatched Glengarry Glen Ross a couple of weeks ago, and I was reminded how much I love his performance in that. Just about everyone else has showier roles with big monologues, and there’s Arkin quietly and confidently plugging away as Aaronow.

Budweiser hanging her out to dry didn’t help their bottom line. It also gets to her point about abandoning a trans person being worse than not hiring one at all; that holds business-wise as well as morality-wise….if they’d stuck with her they *might* have had a chance of at least picking up some business from people

no one at the company has reached out to check on her privately.
