Remember kids

The companies can create as many “clean” vehicles as they want, but if consumers aren’t buying them, it won’t do any good. Their choice now is to build vehicles people will buy and face massive fines, or build vehicles not enough people want and go out of business.

Spoken like someone who expects to be immune to the regulations on human breeding.

Why stop there? It would be even easier to release a man-made virus to wipe out a percentage of the population...

So a government bureaucracy, an entity least equipped to do anything efficiently, is going to levy crippling fines against the companies in the best position to help vehicles become more efficient.

Jesus fucking Christ people, the coronavirus isn’t going to end the world.. It’s less dangerous than the flu. Just get on with your lives, and try to spend less time on cable news.

> ... in almost every case study in the article the car dealers who were suggesting this pathway were all selling new Kias.

Yes, this article is absurd. Do we have to tell people to cook their bacon too. Why do media types treat American consumers as children.

I’m 100% with you on this. The buck stops with the buyer.

I certainly did, Tom, and can you show me where it say something along the lines of “buyers that engage in immoral activities are due whatever comes their way from the banks they’re trying to screw”? Because that’s what this is, Tom. It’s the consumer trying to screw over the bank. Edit: Which, by the way, also did

Does no one here fault the morality of the buyer?!? Jesus H - its like Tom is completely absolving the buyer of any fault, here. Nobody held a gun to the buyer’s head and said “sign here”. This speaks more to the “I deserve a new car” mentality of people than it does to the sales tactics of a car dealer. Dealers are

We do an even worse job teaching people that it is unethical to try and dump on the bank with a car you are tired of, but still owe too much on.

Not like?

Yeah I don't really want our publicly funded roads to be a part of corporate beta testing

What I care about is that they are licensed, registered and insured. In theory, this law should reduce the number of unlicensed (and uninsured) drivers on the road.

False, in AZ you can. I have several non-citizens friends who are on numerous government assistance programs.

Horseshit. I won’t do your work for you Libby, it takes three seconds to prove your propaganda is pure lies.

So how are they verifying who they are when they get said driver’s license. I doubt they are giving them a passport for ID. Even if they have a drivers license from another country who knows if that’s  actually them. So the license NY issues is useless. Might as well have made it at home.
