You’re being naive, friend. They are telegraphing their intent. They want to limit your 2A rights as much as possible. They may never be completely successful, but they can do a lot of harm.

Scared? Or prepared? (Like you are, it seems...) I’d wager the latter, not the former.
Also, since you clearly understand that YOU are your own best protector and that weapons and knowing how to use them are critical to your ability to be prepared and defend yourself, how can you support politicians who want to take…
You’re a complete hypocrite then!
You just lamented how Senators are elected in this way (likely because you feel your party is being “shorted”), and yet you want that for the Presidency?!? (Because you feel that would help you...) You’re a fool! And short-sighted to boot!
The system is set up the way it is for many…
And? That is why we have the system we do. It is full of checks and balances! The Senate is critical, but it can’t do much on it’s own - just like any of the other branches. They all need each other. They all have different strengths and weaknesses and the roles and responsibilities. We need all of them working…
You CANNOT ENTER (legally) without CARB approved features. Note that NUMEROUS TIMES THROUGHOUT this text, it very, very clearly says “OPERATES”; that has nothing to do with registration.
Winner take all? I’m not certain you know how Senators are elected...
Unless there are special circumstances, each state selects a single Senator in a given election, not both. These elections would occur either 2 or 4 years apart. Yes, that ONE Senator would only need a majority of the state’s votes in that election,…
No, because CARB BLOCKS non-CARB compliant vehicles from entering the state.
If all they did was say we want cars sold here to have this extra certification, but they also let people/businesses go to, say, Nevada, and buy a vehicle without that certification and then return home with their new car, it would be…
But it hasn’t. It keeps raising it’s standards, but it’s results don’t measure up. A standard doesn’t mean much if it’s not enforced...
You’re forgetting the Commerce Clause, though... California can do what it wants inside it’s own borders UNTIL what it does starts to effect other states’ commerce. And these emissions standards do just that very plainly.
There have been and are still numerous cases going through the courts over just this. For instance:
It’s shocking how few people know or understand this and why it is so important.
Ha! That’s way too funny to me for some reason. I’m going to hang on to this one... Thanks for sharing!
Jalopnik USED to have that. Go back and look at their old articles, like 10 years ago or more. They are shit now compared to back then...
Not really... How long have you been here??? Jalopnik is nowhere near what it used to be. Go look at these articles; this is what put Jalopnik on the map. It was all leaks, spyshots, insider info, interesting tidbits, and general car-show/swap-meet banter and discussion... “Have you heard?!” “Did you know?!”
Jalopnik…
Bloomington, IL & Mineola, TX.
I actually wrote a more complete write-up on this a while back in another article’s comment thread...
What?! I can go home via train some 750 miles away for $98. That same trip via flight's take's just as longer and costs 3X as much. Driving takes a few hours less and cost about 20% more...
It’s only a meme now because for quite some time it was serious. And also, don’t give me shit for not understanding the “meme-culture” of an article that purports to be serious when the author can’t understand even the simplest of hyperbole...
I keep holding out hope that it will one day return to what it was. A place for cool fixes, mods, and improvements, behind-the-scenes-scoops, and a place to actually learn about and discuss automotive technology and history. I doubt it will, sadly...
You’re [Jalopnik] so full of yourselves. If you said Trump said some silly, over-simplified thing, I’d agree with you... But you [again, Jalopnik, just so you don’t think I don’t know who I’m addressing..] didn’t. Instead, you tried to go one step further. You tried to make it seem like there couldn’t be even a bit of…
Please tell me you see the irony in the headline?
The District of Columbia is NOT a state.
The correct headline is “Cali + 22 States and D.C”., or “23 States and D.C.”.
If you cited anything other than the NYT, you’d have probably known that...
