Sure he did - check out the 4:30 mark, for instance. Also, it’s edited, so you’re not seeing what he’s doing with everything “behind the scenes”.

Don’t misunderstand, once you’ve done it once or twice, laying it out in order isn’t really required. BUT, if you are unsure or don’t trust yourself, that’s a very fool-proof

Now playing

Perhaps this will help folks to understand? It’s all a very simple mechanism stacked on top of itself over and over.

This just boggles my mind. Automatics are not complicated to work on. You can’t really service the complicated bits (the valving) anyway... You’ve got to pay a lot more attention and do a lot more work to get a manual to perform well. Gears have to be aligned, forks have to be tuned, there are more bearings and

Actually, no, it doesn’t. You could do the same and be just fine. Everything is concentric, so it just comes out in one order and goes back in in the other. It’s actually very easy to tear one down and rebuild it if you lay everything out on a bench or the ground in order.

No way, David. Autos are cool and all, but they’re very, very simple compared to engines and manuals.

The charger you linked to is only rated for 16A. That’s a very slow power transfer for that type of application. At it’s maximum rated output (240V, 16A), you’re only transferring 3.8kW of power. That means it would take almost 12 hours to charge 80% of a 50kWh battery.

The outlet isn’t really the issue, it’s the wiring coming to it. You can wire up plain ol’ 110 to a dryer socket all day, but it won’t run the thing...

How is any of this NOT your fault? Jesus, man. You waited until the last minute, you bought tickets BEFORE CONFIRMING THE TIME OF THE EVENT, and you simply were NOT prepared at all.

Fair enough on the point about it being a hybrid. If we’re going to “electrify” everything, that’s closer to how we should be doing it. (The BEST way is electromotive, where their is an ICE and it runs often, but it only powers a generator and is very, very efficient and highly-tuned. Basically, put a gen-set under

It’s going to cost a lot more than $500K, I’d wager.

That same car WON’T be able to fullfil any additional errands, though. Need to run by the store? Sorry, gotta re-charge. Want to get dinner out? Sorry, need to recharge!

Also, it won’t be able to do the long road trip. Period. The charging speed and range isn’t there.

It’s going to cost far more than $200K, though - that’s my point. Conventional rigs, with almost no automation, cost over $100K already... Furthermore, your numbers mean very little because they are not broken down to a per-unit basis. $160billion sounds like a lot until you realize that there were 146 Million trucks

Kristen, you’re starting to highlight a few more of the plethora of issues with AVs... These, among others, are why I (and others) are so adamant that we will NEVER see full AVs.

Jalopnik REALLY should do a VERY DEEP DIVE on these things. The costs to replace a human brain with a computer, one that can detect and

I can see that also! Though I’d say the Intrepid and the new Charger borrowed inspiration from the older Chargers... (And the 1999 Charger Concept.)

Yeah, I do also chuckle at this. I understand WHY they did what they did (parts availability, Hemi engine, “retro”-inspired styling), but I don’t necessarily agree that it was the right call for the entire line to move that direction. The 300C, the car that “caused” the shift, was a great success as was the Charger

They are all over the place here, so I’m not sure why you don’t see them? Their reliability was on par with or better than their contemporaries, and repairs were super easy, especially with the standard north-south engine layout. Their weakest points where wiring and sludge in SOME motors. Wiring tended to hold up

Horrid???

The Intrepid completely shifted the American sedan market. Wide-stance, cab-forward design, lots of room, lots of stability, powerful and efficient V6... The Intrepid has more in common with most currently-available FWD sedans than you’d probably like to admit. It was ahead of it’s time. The first generation

What happens when Google/Apple Maps and Andriod Auto/CarPlay aren’t free???

I’ll remember that when you guys start telling us how we need more mass transit and smaller cars...

I really don’t have any sympathy for riders like this. MANY (not all) riders ride bikes in these areas because they DO NOT WANT TO FOLLOW THE LAWS THAT GOVERN VEHICLES on the same streets. They want to be able to dart in and out of traffic, cut corners, blow through lights, split lanes, etc... They choose to bike
