I loved the scottish festival scenes, if only that they remind me of old photographs of my family in the 70s at the Fergus Highland Games.

Why was it so weird for her to be a virgin? It was 1970. She’s in her early 20s. Lots of girls/women were virgins at that age back then. Lots of girls are virgins at that age now.

Kind of like how Dr Who has access to all of time and space, all of which ends up looking like Britain?

Roger and Bree are having two different arguments though I don’t know that they know it. These arguments are, however, borne of two different experiences so it’s not surprising.

My ex's parents both died when she was 15, so naturally she started acting out a little and using weed. Her Aunt, now her legal guardian, used her entire 30k that she got from her inheritance to have them come kidnap her and ship her off to a WWASP school for 2 years. It was/is what they do at those places. Fuck those

I’ve spent my whole life being told that family is important, and to respect your parents... We’re all taught from a young age that family means something. They’re supposed to be your support system. Mine just... isn’t. No matter how hard I try, I’m on the outside looking in.

Toxic families are the worst. At least with friends you can just break things off, but with family you always get that bullshit of “oh but they are family/blood, you should forgive them”. If anything, you have more right to break things off with family because you sure as fuck didn’t have a choice to be stuck with

It’s refreshing to hear someone of Blackley’s stature admit how much his ego (& implicit white dude self-satisfaction) fueled his early career, and I wonder how these lessons inform his work now. He had the good luck to bounce onto a project (Xbox) that more or less erased the Trespasser debacle, but as he himself

Oh, I agree. People just seem very quick to call for murder charges specifically, when such charges wouldn’t be warranted.

You’re never going to make everybody happy. If these same women had somehow worked and succeeded at getting the policy changed, there would be people saying, “oh great, do they want a cookie?”, or otherwise deriding them for not having acted sooner. I’m not even saying that would be the majority reaction—just that

To the other commenters, where did they act like they cured inequality? They proved a point and people, like local news, took notice. That’s like step #1 of deconstructing white supremacy - using your privilege to not only acknowledge it exists but also right the wrongs it produced.

I see this divergence around what’s

Viner had lost a reported $1.50 on a bet

Is it me, or has there been a drastic decrease of Swatting calls after this one happened?  After the kid was arrested, and it was clear he was going to face serious prison time?

I always find it amusing that the generation clash is always viewed as being millennials vs baby boomers. Poor old Gen X just gets forgotten, which seems like the most Gen X thing it could really do.

But you had one thing going for you that Millennials don’t - opportunity.

Dibs on the Native American headdress token!

Here’s what you do, from one tired dad to another:

anyone that wanted to know this already knows that, but ok reggie

They tried, and failed, with UltraHLE setting precedent for emulators being legal. Kind of why lawsuits don’t happen to emulator creators now and why Nintendo targets sites hosting roms.
