I posted twice, and every other post was in response to someone replying to me.

That’s fair. I shouldn’t have said they were entirely passive, but I never found the pre-canned responses useful enough to use them. So for me, they may as well have been entirely passive.

I’m still failing to understand how it is “better” at being a smart watch? Can I create Reminders or Calendar appointments from it? Can I dictate text messages?

You caught me. I dared post something remotely positive about the Apple Watch, so clearly I’m rolling in that Apple Cash (tm).

It doesn’t ignore them - I’ve used them. They’re not nearly as good. Pre-defined messages isn’t terrible useful compared to the ability to dictate a message. Or mark an e-mail in Inbox as Done. Or mark as Reminder as Completed. Or accept a calendar invite.

Yeah, my Apple Watch and iPhone have never lost connection. I can’t say the same about my Pebble.

Which smartwatches have always-on active heart rate monitoring? Genuinely curious. I had a Moto 360, but the heart rate monitoring was sub-par. There’s the Basis Peak, but that’s like, 10% smartwatch, 90% fitness tracker.

“The heart rate monitor? It only really works when you turn it on. I ran my ass off during a giant Nerf war, and discovered the watch hadn’t taken a single reading. Not even one. Turns out the ambient sensors only work when you stand very still. To turn on the active ones, you need to actually tell the Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is better than the Pebble for most things I use Pebble for - fitness tracking, actually *doing things* with notifications, and getting glanceable information. The *only* thing the Pebble has going for it is battery life and the always-on screen.

Wow. Thanks for making me glad I gave up on this show halfway through the current season.

+1. Grabbed this at Costco a year and a half ago and it’s been fantastic.

You and I clearly define “unambiguously good” very, very differently.

I’m buying one because it’s my duty as a tech blogger - at least, that’s what I tell myself.

I was curious about this, too. I just bought a pair of the QY7's, and they're nifty, but what is the difference between them? Are they the same product sold under a different brand?

I'm not having any luck with the SKDEAL50 code. Am I missing something?

You must be a lot of fun at parties.

You must be a lot of fun at parties.

Yeah, it's pretty insane. Something fishy is going on.

Little late to the party, but my brief experiences with the Amazon Echo make me think it's an ideal trojan horse for an actually-useful smartphone. I don't want to pull out my phone and fumble through apps to turn things on and off, but I wouldn't mind saying "Alexa, turn off the downstairs lights" or "Alexa, arm the
