That is my husband's favorite look...him, and half the men at Pyramid Club. Sorry.

Hoo, no! Not in the Midwest. NOT liking sports is man-repellant, unless you're me and only date bi men. Ha.
Ding ding ding!
My husband winds up having sex with me when I cry. I think it's great because the alternative is me wasting the afternoon sobbing and having a panic attack. None of these tips would work on him. Oh well.
Mine disappeared when I was just about that age and a newlywed too. It could be nothing at all. I think a lot of women experience a dip in their mid-20s and a zoom upward in their early 30s. I did and I know I'm not alone. Assuming your health is a-okay, the biggest gifts you can give yourself are time and relaxation.…
We decided sometime during Bush II that the lives of people bereft of talent, and with more money than sense, were endlessly fascinating and worthy of aspiring to.
*Faster internet comprises a higher percentage of all internet connections, I mean. Ack.
That states posting the largest percentage of population in their urban areas (see: New York, California), have faster internet?
It is continually shocking to me, the number of ob/gyns who treat women like children or refuse to listen to their health histories (and very good reasons for, say, not wanting to take hormonal birth control). Apparently, the lack of empathy among doctors generally has caused medical schools to change their teaching…
That's a good point. From speaking with other women about this, it seems to me that many doctors outside of major metro areas refuse to prescribe it, and even if they do, many pharmacies take months to order the diaphragm. My mother used this method in the 1970s, and only got pregnant when she wanted to.
I'm sorry for your loss.
The copper IUD is a great choice if it fits your uterus and if you won't be likely to suffer greater amounts of pain or bleeding. In other countries, different sizes and styles of IUDs are available, and women are encouraged to use them from a young age. The US has not gotten to that point, partially because of the…
Yes, we use the Rhythm Method because I've yet to find a type of birth control that isn't utter garbage. I don't really have that many options – either barrier methods with high failure rates, hormones with their laundry list of side effects (for me, the Mirena also falls into this category), or the copper IUD, which…
Thanks for pointing this out. I have been a content director, art director, UX lead, web designer, creative manager, visual designer, and copywriter, and no one seems to want me. They prefer a new grad who has spent six months perfecting Twitter posting technique, for example. I wonder if employers think my resume is…
The latest I read, from the LA Times, is that Matt Weiner was "not opposed" to splitting the last season of Mad Men into two seasons, and has "no idea how that will go." I am guessing Jon Hamm isn't available for the foreseeable future, and based on how in-demand she is, neither is Melissa McCarthy.
That reminds me much more of her cousin, Jenny, who was all over MTV in the 90s and is now peddling books that advance the return of measles.
I feel that certain doctors are often the least educated of all when it comes to women's health. Isn't it sickening how any health issue a woman has is so frequently chalked up to anxiety or attention-seeking and claims are made that it can be solved by taking a Prozac and some birth control? I've seen it too often,…
AcidMartini, that's exactly what I'm talking about...it is even a fairly new thing for grocery stores to come up with more specific labels. In the latter 20th century, you could get away with advertising (just for example) something as low-fat if it had fewer than 5 grams PER serving. However, the serving could be…
The one consistent theme I'm seeing here is that people in the restaurant industry are not well-educated about specific dietary issues. The insensitivity toward celiac today reminds me very much of the insensitivity toward type I brittle diabetics in the late 80s, who were often told, "Why can't you just eat the damn…
I struggle to eat sometimes due to a bowel disorder, and I agree with your snark. Since the 1920s, the "style" has been for women to deny themselves food and replace it with water, Tic-Tacs, and lettuce. It's fucking dysfunctional and has led to a culture where MOST women over the age of 21 have some type of…
