I think this also belies a failure in America to have a real conversation about the realities of pregnancy and parenting. I see much evidence of this in the pro-life/adoption camp who just scream and scream about how it will all work out and how love is enough and how we're just meant for this and how the tooth fairy

I'm at the point in my life and health where I am just not going to put up with being in even poorer health by taking birth control. So we use condoms toward the end. We have never had any problems that way. I think I took Plan B once a few years ago, but I'm old enough now that the idea of getting pregnant doesn't

Great. So, now it's confirmed that she's always been insufferable.

Agreed. The main difference, I suppose, is that at least this is an honest inquiry and not more inane, narcissistic navel-gazing like Girls.

tips on how to achieve the opposite of what the XOVain piece advises: getting men to leave us alone. Chasing them away.

You're dead wrong. Forbes picked up on it in their article, The Secret Power Of The Generalist — And How They'll Rule The Future, that they wrote last year. The pure project manager has absolutely nothing to do with the active innate need to be open-minded towards the pursuit of knowledge. These are two completely

On what planet? The world worships experts. Generalists never ascend the ranks because they "aren't good at anything". Most bosses hire people who are good at things, not people who are interested in things. My company has no use for a middling Java coder who is also a middling beer maker. i don't sell beer!

I agree the pure project manager is a bullshit position, but I disagree this line of thinking leads to that. Corporate America culture of "middle management" leads to that.

Creativity and innovation is not something one seeks in an employee, they want some one to follow rules.

If this were true, I would have a job right now. I have a ton of experience in this and that, but nothing that I am truly a subject matter expert in. Employers are really looking for subject matter experts these days (in my field, anyway).

Just ask any farmer. (Chemistry, Math, Biology, Marketing, Investing, Mechanics, Electronics, Veterinary, Building skills and many many more.)

BackpackingGeek, I just want to say how much I agree with you, and that you are not alone!

I am strongly considering it, and I am 22. I realize I am young, but having a uterus inside me that keeps trying to get pregnant every month feels like there's this thing inside of me trying to kill me. It feels completely alien, like this malevolent force plotting my demise from within my own body. It disgusts me. I

"If one of your kids dies, you only have one kid left."

So, should women be told NOT to have children until they are at least 25? Their brain hasn't finished growing yet so they may have different ideas by then. You wouldn't want to close of that childfree life option completely yet. If you really feel that this is also true....fine.

This!!

I had my tubes tied after our third child. Knowing what I know now, I never would have done it. My periods have been like a murder scene ever since. They are shorter, but far heavier and more painful than at any other time in my life. I can also feel every time my left ovary ovulates. It's a very uncomfortable twinge
