Yeah you get one of those shitty 1.6L ones from southern Europe in the late 80's and there was absolutely nothing special about it, other than it was a solid little build. Slow as hell too. 

Honestly I think the E32, 38, and 39 are some of the most beautiful sedan shapes ever penned. Definitely the high water mark for BMW. Everything after that has been pure hot garbage. The last 2 generations of 3 and 5 series, forgettable and anonymous. The worst kind of design of them all.
