No, no we don’t need “more stories that hammer this point home” because those kinds of shows are already plentiful. There’s a reason why shows like Emily in Paris and Avatar 2 get mocked, yet people are watching both. IT’s because we need more escapism, not less.

They need to at least say SOMETHING about Mike. It can be a precursor post but going this long is sad to me. Your emotions are important, but so is letting the people who loved his content in the loop.

And I think it sucks that you’re taking a run at people over this. People are only asking because Fahey meant something to them, too.

So you think every obit that hits the paper, every eulogy written by a loved one means that person is over the death of the bereaved? Mmk.  I wrote both of my grandparents’ obits and eulogies, and I still cry for them sometimes.

Not sure what the long weekend has to do with it.  You think the staff were too busy with cookouts to write something short, with a note that more would be following? I doubt it.  The silence on it is just odd.

I agree. There’s a difference between an announcement and a eulogy, and the former seems to be called for here. It’s unreasonable to expect the staff to compose heartfelt tributes to an unexpected tragedy over a holiday weekend, but just letting folks know… I found out in a random thread yesterday and thought it was a

Surely there’s a middle ground between hurried expressions of grief and just not acknowledging Fahey’s passing at all. An open thread for people to share stories, with a nod from editorial towards formal eulogies from staff yet to come, would seem a proper bridge. I heard it first in one of these random threads and

Getting over the death has nothing to do with it. It’s a matter of getting it out into the public so people who knew them or were affected by their lives can grieve as well, and show up to pay their respects if there is a service (obviously not applicable in this case).

It was confirmed he passed away on Friday. It’s been three days, not hours. I wrote my grandfather’s obit quicker than that. This is borderline disrespectful.

I’m going to guess that the herb didn’t like him much as he was one of the last remaining holdouts from when Kotaku was a good website.

Same. Frankly it’s insulting.

Agreed. I came here this morning to read a tribute to the guy... and nothing.

Off-topic but how is there not a tribute to former Kotaku writer Mike Fahey?

That is the most tldr; I have seen today

No law stopping her, but she could self-incriminate and give the prosecutor legal ammo.

Cringe goes both ways. And the author of this article acting like he’s so brave not liking Rick and Morty and baying “come at me bro” to everyone that’s a fan of the show is almost as cringe as the people jumping on McDonald’s counters for siuchuan sauce and crying “Wubba lubba dub dub”.

Goddamn, that sucks…

Oh no! Just saw Polygon confirm the news. What a heartbreaking thing for his family. :(

Yup. Wondering if we’re going to get a Rick and Morty review, or if that’s another one under the bus.

I mean, I get it, I am kind of obsessed with Florence Pugh too. But this site probably should try to find other things to write about also. Are there any new TV shows they could watch and review, for example?
