While flipping through the New York Time’s archives I read an article from 1908 that Ford contemplated adapting the Model T to drop fake horse shit all over the street to ease early adopter’s minds.

Disapointing that they defaulted to the scowling squinty face of all modern cars and ignored one of the best features of the original, the happy face with the big innocent round ‘eyes’.

This isn’t all that “retro.” Sure, that’s what VW was going for, but it is really just a over-stylized “generic van” to the rest of the world. Give a Renault Trafic a two-tone paint job and some chrome decals from Autozone and you’d have this.

Seems like a great car and all but at a $55k starting price you can just get a lot more from other EV’s than from this. This seems like it should be the Ford Maverick of EV’s -- simple, functional, clever little nooks and crannies, and cheap. And it seems like VW just whiffed on that last part.

I would sign up for a 5 seat model but the US is only getting the LWB sadly. I dont know if I really want that. 

Pickup trucks are MASSIVELY profitable. You don’t even have to finish the interior of the back 1/3 of the vehicle!

Don’t get an S2000 unless you want to keep it clean and treat it as an investment - the Toyota 86 (or any of its other badged names) is the answer. A stock FRS drives better on track than my S2000 did when it was stock, plus S2000s are appreciating so rapidly that you’ll feel bad beating on it on the track and…

The NA Mercedes SLK55 would be fine if he never puts the top down. Corvettes are wasted on old people. I think that most modern cars have a “lane change” three-blink position on the turn signal. Just bump it without hitting the detent and you get three blinks of the signal. The one on BMWs must be a subscription feature, because the drivers still ain’t using it. 

The Z71 is the only one of these that doesn’t seem overwhelming offensive, but man is that a low bar to clear. I don’t hate the grill/headlights design itself, you just have to smooth out the rest of that thing, like the ‘15 redesign.
