That’s the problem with “It’s just like XYZ” style comparisons because it’s literally children being slaughtered by madmen with guns.

I agree with ending the drug war. Lets do that too!

Yes, I do. What;s your point?

Sorry bucko - but I do care about the thousands of gun deaths a year. Which is why I’d like guns off the shelves and off the streets.

Yes, because banning guns from a small area means absolutely nothing. It means nothing to ban guns from a mall when a store outside the mall sells guns. Conflating banning or restricting guns country wide and banning them on school/mall grounds is dishonest.

It’d be more likely forcing everyone to learn offensive/precision driving techniques (such as PIT maneuvers, how to deploy road spikes, etc) in case they are ever up against a maniac driving a car to kill people rather then putting in place mechanisms to prevent vehicles from ramming oncoming traffic or pedestrians

There are a multitude of problems with those scenarios though.

I generally don’t assume people are malicious either - but there is paralyzed and overwhelmed ranting about violence and then there is “what about XYZ” derailing. Where people want to stop the conversation because some other injustice happens. They don’t care to offer anything about the other injustice - but they want

Yeah, the kicker here is that all the people saying “What about X Y and Z types of gun deaths” don’t actually give a shit about slowing or preventing those deaths. So the only thing left to do is stare at them like they are evil for saying “It’s only 17 dead children”.

You’re being intellectually dishonest here. Banning guns from a 5000 sq ft area when there are 15 gun stores just outside the zone is about as effective as trying to put out a house fire by pissing on it. When you can legally purchase something that is banned in your area less then 10 minutes away it’s pretty

Did you know that due to advances in transportation it’s possible to purchase goods in one city and take them to another city that has restrictions on those goods? We used to do it all the time when I lived in Georgia and fireworks were banned - they even set up roadside shops right over the state line!

Out of curiosity, my completely rational friend - how many children would it take massacring in school for you to decide that it’s ok to put some focus on it? 17 isn’t enough. 20? 50? 100?

Oh, I know. I also know that gun deaths in Chicago are down. And that most of the guns used in Chicago come from places with more lax gun control laws. But even if this persons barely functioning racist mind thinks that facts don’t matter - how does anyone sit and type “A small number of children died” as if A) 17

The OK Coral is not a viable methodology for stopping mass shootings.

It is way harder to murder 17 people with a knife. You might be able to injure 17 people in a knife spree but it’s a lot easier to survive an average knife wound. Plus, you need a lot more physical strength to keep up after stabbing 17 people then you do after pulling a trigger a few times.

You: “It’s only 17 dead kids”.

So Candidate B is a republican? Sounds about right. I mean, I have no evidence that any of them eat babies but I also don’t have evidence that any of them DON’T eat babies.

No 10 year olds are on facebook. They are all on snapchat. Facebook is for old people these days.

These things are a public health nightmare! I bet the dry cleaning lobby is trying to keep them around.

I can’t take the lid off my coffee. I will, without fail, knock it over the second I put it down. At least if I knock over a lidded cup I have a chance of not having coffee all over my desk and laptop!
