Yeah, the time commitment and devotion to the multitude of mechanics Death Stranding has is pretty frickin’ strict. Makes perfect sense that so many people have opted instead to watch LPs and gameplay vids to get a feel for the better portions of the experience that pop up later on.

/salute Civ 2. That reminds me of something else Death Stranding sorely needs: Cultural Adviser Elvis. Kojima could have dubbed him Blue Suede Man or Culture Man or something.

/comfort on Mass Effect 2 perspective. I think it’s a little of both. It’s long enough since that we’ve seen the horrid overall effect of EA on everything that made Bioware so darn special. But it’s also not long enough to see all the best elements of ME2 incorporated into most other games to feel like the torch has

/cheer Witcher 3 and Yakuza 0. The character scenes in those are top notch. And great call on FTL. I wonder why I don’t see that one pop up more often on decades lists. Because you’re right, it is one of the most unique indie games of the past several years and a real modern day torchbearer for the virtues of Sid

hahahahaha~! That clip was fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing that.

I think you’re definitely gonna have an absolute blast with the remainder of Witcher 3 if you’re looking for dense character development and subversion of the typical open world RPG tropes and mechanics. It’s really quite an achievement. Witcher 3 feels like both a love letter to the days of Baldur’s Gate II and the

Thank you! Your list is equally superb. /cheer to you for giving a spotlight to the Gravity Rush series. I haven’t played the sequel, but I was immensely engrossed in the charming spirit of its world and denizens therein. Those top five games there really have an inimitable style and panache to them in every corner of

TOM: PB-n-Jammin, nooooo! Yah can’t leave early, man! You’ll never learn my move d’en! Didn’t you want to learn my Tornado Kick©? And finally MAYBE eat a HOT DAAWWWGG?!!? NOOOoooOOOo?

I haven’t played on a Nintendo console in over a decade, so I’m quite the neophyte when it comes to the accolades of wondrous big N (beyond Mario and Zelda, of course).

It really warms my heart to see so many others honor Yakuza 0 here. I figured I’d be the only one given how many of the other RGG Studios games have zoomed over here in just the past 2 years. It’s easy to bundle them all together in your head and love them to an extent as a family of wild rides, one and all, yet also f

Wowza, congrats to RE2 Remake! ^^ Glad you adored that one so much. Original Recipe RE2 is still one of my favorite experiences ever with a video game, but I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed myself despite RE2R being a bit more perpetually sustained tension than RE2O’s “Haunted House on a Roller Coaster” vibe.

Yep yep, indeed. Agree. Like Mass Effect 2’s bridging the best of the aughts with the highest potential of what the 2010s could give us for character development and storytelling in minute increments.

Agreed on the merits of authenticity. That’s how Mass Effect 2 ended up much lower on my list than I would have initially suspected. I realized more and more over the decade, especially following the magnificent gems of 2017, that ME2 just didn’t resonate as much as it did way back in 2010.

Salutations~!

Kanji’s the best and Troy really sells his virtues with maximum gusto.

Yeah agreed, “Expose” is a really weird LOST episode, especially in terms of tone and scope. Comparatively, my favorite episode(s), “Flashes Before Your Eyes” and “The Constant,” as a sort of unofficial two parter displaced simply due to occurring in entirely different seasons but still being linked at the hip by
