Yeah, it’s pretty wonderful, right? It’s kind of like if Bruce Campbell had gotten to be Mysterio back in the day and/or The Phantom or another Hollywood lead and really chew the scenery with utter zeal for all to appreciate and treasure. A vet of their industry finally being allowed to let loose and show what they’re

Agreed completely. A lot of AAA games only utilize him for his Talion/Mordor style performances (which are solid but don’t tap into his talents the best). But you offer a Joel/Kanji Tatsumi/Booker DeWitt level character for him, and whoa, watch him soar.

A weird game!?!? From Hideo Kojima!?!? Well I NEVER! :P

Salutations~!

Thanks! And wow, would a Simpsons world game done in this style be spectacular, or what? Great call. All the same blessed irreverence and witty dialogue, with far less bleak atmosphere to the proceedings.

Yeah, agreed on many points, including the final situation. I totally understand figuratively how it all ties together on the surface, but you don’t really get to alter anything deeper than that beyond what happens to the core principals in the most basic sense. Nothing terrible, but nothing holistically outstanding

I’ve realized more and more following my completion of the game this past weekend that a lot of crazy/very interesting stuff can occur following failed rolls, and that the game ALSO tends to dovetail RIGHT back into the main narrative immediately falling any given failed dice rolls anyhow.

I concur with you completely on that. After I finished the game, when I was reading through discussions, I noticed just how many anecdotes started with “I failed X roll and then this crazy reaction happened.” So my playing style definitely clashed 100% with what the game was going for. 100% my loss. I’m just so used

Yep yep, convincing some of the Dustmen to quit the group and move on with their lives is exactly what I was thinking of re:DE needing more direct interaction. Right from the get go in PS:T, you can significantly affect people around you just through conversation.

Agreed. Given the sheer density of voice clips required, that you still get a consistent, charming personality into the mix, especially from a late ‘90s/early aughts title, is pretty darn commendable. Plus, as you say, even when the acting fumbles it’s very wonderfully memorable because of its hokeyness.

I can wholeheartedly guarantee you will not be disappointed in this regard. I got to say “I’m sorry” everywhere. The game keeps a tally of your stance in the 4 given quadrants of character types (Superstar Cop/Apocalypse Cop/Boring Cop/Sorry Cop & Communist/Fascist/Ultra Liberal/Moralist), and my Sorry Cop meter was

Local Kid: HEY, PB-n-Justice, wanna play baseball?!?

Salutations~!

I clicked on “How to Date Natalie Dormer” for this?!?!

“You see the geese everywhere too?”

Objection! Witness is not a bat!

Ahh, everyone keeps talking about how great Disco Elysium is! ^^ “That’s it! I’m sick of this family holding me back! I’m goin’ to clown college play some DE!”

That’s a really solid point. You’re totally right. Even with my Friday the 13th Jason parallel, I’m inadvertently yet blatantly making Goose the co-lead of the multiplayer design when Smash is never about just one player over another, and well honed and maintained balance in Smash is delicate enough as it is.

Ahh, cool cool. Kind of like how I imagine a Tasmanian Devil trophy would work if we had a Warner Brothers style smash. Just zooming in and out of the map to upset the balance of the stage’s benefits in minute ways, then moving on. Makes perfect sense. Well done. /cheer ^^

Ha ha, that sounds pretty hilarious. You could call it the “Rake in the Lake” trophy. Keeping things simple and well honed to the themes for the core of the character definitely sounds like the best way to go. I always overthink these things.
