Doom's not bad. Certainly not much worse than those 2 examples.

I've viewing her as a princess, isolated from a young age both in terms of privilege and her father's protection

One thing that bugs me about your viewpoint is that you seem to be viewing her solely through a class lens, or saying that criteria obscures or eclipses any of her experiences a a woman or a person of colour.

If I, a white guy, wrote an album about the suffering of black women,
and had myself photographed on the porch with them, would you maybe
question how deeply I understood their problems?

Does that vantage point somehow diminish her analysis or her observations? If they are, you're not making the case, just stating your premise.

My wife is a gorgeous blonde, smart, accomplished and gets along well with everybody, and has lived her whole life in the industrialized west, enjoying an upper-middle class upbringing.

Actual Marxist chiming in here: IDGAF about Marx' socio-economic background (same goes for Bey). The work is the work. If there's something in the author's life that helps illuminate their art, then great. But using that life, and nothing else, to define the art, is just culturally unsound.

It does manage that rare trick of being completely unpredictable yet mostly logical. As in, you have no idea what's going to happen next, but when it does, it makes sense.

That's actually a useful tip since I've never set foot in one of those stores. Thanks!

As someone who thought DH2 was a worthy sequel, get the fuck outta here with that shit.

Yeah, one of the problems of being really tall is that the big and tall specialty shops expect me to have a waist size that's proportional to my height. Which is just not how my body has ever worked.

Yeah, even though I own as little footwear as possible, all my stuff ranges in size from 13 to 15 US.

Correct. We learn at the same time that Hick's first name is Dwayne.

I can't think of a dropoff in quality from band to solo as great as Sting's

Honestly, I'm fine with their portrayal since they're not all that much better in the book. They're like Renly's idiot knights, pampered nobles who dream of battle but have never actually seen it.

Aw come on, Brand New Day was dad rock when the album dropped, let's not get all Abe Simpson here.

Nothing Like The Sun could probably go toe-to-toe with anything The Police ever did, but yeah, Sting dadded out fairly solidly and fairly quickly.

Damn, you're right. Pop music has no problem showing off the shiny factory.

She's a much better actress than anyone thinks. Her short-lived sitcom (on the CW I think) showed she had some decent comedy chops, which is impressive in the realm of models turned actors.
