I thought maybe it was because the anchor is also of (irish or whatever) descent, so it was like a “hey, we’re both Irish!” comment that went horribly wrong?

fun fact - the local news covered this and had an interview with the owner - he was holding a beer and a cig the whole way through the interview.
I used to live in Baltimore and on the day that Michael Jackson died, an impromptu gathering turned into a dance party in the park outside my apartment. It was a pretty decent-sized crowd, and when a cop came up I was sure he was going to break it up - but he started dancing. It was magical.
Don pontificating on “what’s in a name” to Roger in the bar had me thinking something along these lines.
“This is the start of something good” coming from Don only reminded me of when someone - can’t remember which of his ladies it was - told him “you only like the beginning of things”.
I used to work at a hotel and Stevie herself gave tickets to the front desk staff — awesome to hear that it’s something that she does regularly.
I used to work at a SUPER busy Sbux in Washington DC — it was so mismanaged that not one, but TWO store managers just didn’t show up to work. I was a shift manager and had to pick up where they dropped the ball because our district manager dropped all the responsibility of the store manager ditching on me - twice. I…
I just realized my little brother looks almost exactly like Chris Pratt. BACK OFF ALL OF YOU. HE’S GETTING MARRIED IN LIKE TWO MONTHS.
Maryland’s flag is nuts. The best part about the DC flag is that it is George Washington’s family crest — and no one knows that, either. GET IT TOGETHER, DC.
Ugh, me too — it also made me wonder if the Bush family is one of those that shames him for being the hefty one, because I could totally see that happening since 41 and 43 are so fit. :’{ ITS OK JEB. You eat that pie.
they are cool! The funny thing is that everyone in Chicago seems to know what the Chicago flag looks like - there seems to be less in DC that know what the DC flag is. I can’t tell you how many times while living in DC I had someone ask me what it was.
I have tattoos from the cities I’ve lived in that have had the greatest impact. I moved around when I was little but went to high school in Michigan and HATED it. So although I have the state of Maryland with a star to indicate Baltimore and the Washington, DC flag - I am never planning on getting anything Michigan…
I’d like to add to this the people who visit my neighbors across the alley who appear to not own a cell phone and also can’t figure out how to walk to the front door. Instead of *HOOOOOONK* “ ‘EY ! ‘EYYYYYYY!!” *HOOOOOOOONK*
It’s like you’re me to a T. Also because I used to be super expressive in how I dressed myself, people assumed I was doing it to draw attention to myself when really I just didn’t want to look drab.
I was waiting for it to get weird. So glad it didn’t.
you could send them this! If that doesn’t help them understand, I don’t know what would.
There’s a really great article i saw recently about not forcing young kids to hug / kiss a relative.
I emailed the link to this to my bf - who definitely gets uncomfortable with this kind of stuff - but also doesn’t always understand why I get so fired up about it .
I used to regularly visit reddit a few years ago and had to stop because of the gross shit men could get away with saying anonymously. It was seriously starting to make me think that all men thought that way and it was fucking me up. I also have a great relationship with my dad and a bf who doesn’t ALWAYS understand…
