Right? I’m just thinking...how would you even do that? “Teachers, thank you for staying even later after school for this last minute faculty meeting, but we all need to weigh in RIGHT NOW on what a student is planning to wear to prom.”

Yeah, as a teacher, based on my own anecdata, most teachers would roll their eyes at this, and find it extremely funny that their opinions SUDDENLY MATTER SO MUCH to school admins.

I like my students. I like seeing them dressed up. They like seeing me dressed up.

I really wish Kinja had a way for me to individually star each bullet point on Dirt Bag. SO many of these were ON POINT and I feel that favoriting the Dirt Bag article as a whole doesn't give them the recognition they truly deserve.

God, nobody give him a Tylenol+codeine.

Yeah, as a teacher I’m reading this principal’s comments a little differently.

I teach high school in AZ, three years ago a boy wanted to wear a dress to prom and our administration was fine with it. Our student body and faculty was supportive. He is now 21 and will still talk about his senior prom with a smile on his face. My school has gotten many accolades in the last four years but that is

Right?!! I really wanted a part of that story to be about how she’s getting the eff out of Dodge and will be in Northampton or Berkeley next year.

I don’t get this. There were several girls who wore tuxes to my prom. In Memphis. In 1981.

This principal is doing it full on, ‘it’s not me, it’s those bigoted teachers! There’s nothing little ole me can do. You wouldn’t want to ruin prom for all your friends now, would you?’.

So we’re just going to ignore the danger this gay student poses by her mere presence before these easily influenced young children?

Huh. So the threat wasn’t precisely that they would shut Prom down, but that the faculty would simply refuse to work it?

“Menswear” on women is trendy right now. And a tux is fucking formal, it’s not like she said she’d be wearing zip-off cargo pants and a tank top or something. Couldn’t be more clear that this is a judgment on her sexual orientation.

I’m guessing boys don’t wear ‘dresses’ right up to the moment a guy wants to wear a kilt. Also Katharine Hepburn called to say “shut up”

Well.. at least the school board president isn’t a bigot. That’s something.

Can we get a number to call, or an address? It’s funny what a thousand phone calls can do.

If I met Octavia Spencer, I would be disappointed if she didn’t roll her eyes.
