Ugh, the Shibs. Totally nice kids that are surprisingly in their early twenties, they are the asexual wholesome swing dancers of Ice Dancing. Their little vlogging promo made me think they were teens, but I was shocked to find out they are so old, not the cute teens I thought.

I’ve been into Ice Dancing since Torvill and Dean’s Bolero routine back in 1984. As such, I’ve always preferred Ice Dancing when it has a sensual element. I like seeing chemistry and sexual tension, just like when watching a good Latin dance routine.

Do you like Baz Luhrmann in general? I would argue Moulin Rouge is the most “Baz Luhrmann”-y of his movies (flashy, musical, colorful, romantic, mix of modern kitsch with a traditional story).

Man alive, this pair. What’s scuttlebutt on them, Canadian skating-world insiders? They’re like 28 and have been skating together for TWENTY YEARS. It’s clear from watching a few routines that their chemistry is off the charts, and yet they remain hella coy and INSIST they are not together, that they are just good…

Personally I liked it a lot. It’s campy as hell but that’s what baz does best.

I saw it 3 times in the theater when it came out. That and Amelie and the Royal Tennanbaums were the height of film to baby Bitty.

I found the movie visually pretty, but really, the most memorable thing is the version of “Roxanne,” which was tres cool and suited the movie a great deal.

I discovered these two on Saturday and I’m obsessed. I’ve been down the youtube rabbit hole and can’t decide if I love the raunchy or delicate routines more.

I thought she was SO pretty when she came on the screen. Then she danced beautifully too. I root for Team USA but it’s hard to deny the sheer depth of talent Canada’s ice skating and ice dancers bring to the table.

Semantics but she didn’t win bronze, she came in third but won gold because it’s a team event and her third was enough to clinch gold for Canada.

In addition to just giving an amazing performance, she was so glam and sassy and I LOVED it!!!
