@Helen Valentine: My mom wouldn't even let me play softball. She would tell me it wasn't a good idea, but not tell me why, and "we'll see..." the situation until the deadline passed. She did this for a couple of years until I lost interest. (Of course I lost interest!) I was a pretty good player, too. #girlssports
