One sci-fi trope that always bugs me is the constant idea that the super-soldier will be a rage-filled, hate-driven killing machine, unstable and largely-uncontrollable in combat.
In the span of about two seconds, the Dominion teams up with the Cardassians, gets an Alpha Quadrant foothold, and is apparently about to start fucking everybody’s shit up......the kneejerk reaction is going to be “the devil you know”, hence why they initially sided with the Federation and the Klingons
You also gotta wonder why going to warp in a solar system is such a big deal. It’s mentioned once or twice elsewhere in Trek, but never explained as far as I know.
