I agree with your points here. Color (at least the seats) are awful, and definitely want a manual with that v8. However, if it passes a PPI, I think $42k is fair as well and went NP.
$40k is about the bottom of the market for an Aston. Even DB7s have crept up to that price and beyond, and those are just a fancified XJ-S when Jaguar had already moved on to the XK8.
KBB “Trade In” <> “Value”
You realize there is an entire used car valuation tool on KBB that gives market value ranges from dealers, right?
Worked for me once as well. Years ago (Around 2008 or so) I was eyeballing a Used Ford Focus as a cheap, reliable commuter car for work. I went into a Used Dealer who had a nice looking hatchback out front. Looked it over, test drove it, and then talked numbers. The price they wanted was way too high. (Knowing that I…
A couple months ago online, I found a used 2021 Tacoma with only 5k miles and a “NO HASSLE PRICE” of $37k. Seemed a little weird that the Carfax showed they’d had it for nearly five months. I confirmed the price three times via email, phone, and in person during the test drive, as well as confirmed total price with…
I mean, the big 3 listed cars like this for years. When I sold GMC trucks in 2019, you couldn’t buy a truck without at least $5,000-$10,000 off of the “MSRP” that GM would provide. Those numbers were just pulled out of their ass to make it seem like people were all getting “HUGE DISCOUNTS” on the actual sale price.…
had the same first thought. You cannot compare “trade in” value to a dealers lot price. Private party gets you close to what you can expect but as you said there is also a slight dealer premium. Odd that Lawrence would make that mistake. I think most car people know this.
And none of this is new, or specific to cars, as the article implies.
Your KBB is trade in value....
Gonna go against the grain here and say in this market - NP, assuming the PPI doesn’t uncover anything, door jams are fine and there are service records to back up mechanical running order claims. 2 New doors from junkyard/ebay, god knows there are enough grey X5's running around. Spend a grand or a weekend installing…
It would have opened her eyes as to how wrong all the “Challengers are just boats” people really are.
Great article. This is why we come here. We, me at least. Hello from FAR West Texas.
Wow! It’s amazing how easily the entire point of muscle cars went right over your head. The Challenger is not, has never been, and will never be about actual performance. It’s a toy, its meant to be fun right out of the box. It’s meant to be overkill without worrying about engine failure or passenger comfort. Also…
yes. Yes. YES!
Right? It would totally get dusted by, like, any motorcycle. What a stupid car.
Well if you get an SXT with the V6, it will in fact be about 600lbs lighter than the SRT model.... and still be faster than an old Charger with the 440 and 3 speed slushbox.
there were in fact speed limits so the sign lied
Not the point, but in the time to design, build, and install this sign, did it occur to no one that they were declaring a limit to No Limits, Texas?
Yes. The driver has to put the seat all the way back to make room for their giant balls.
