While I’ll certainly agree that “personal luxury” cars of the ’70s are an, ahem, acquired taste, This is actually a pretty fine example of the breed. A big, floaty cruiser made to soak up the miles. It may not be equipped for broken-field running, but it’s equipped perfectly for broken-road cruising.

You either “get” cars like this or you don’t. I was around back when these were new and I thought they were absurd. I still think they’re absurd but they represent an era of American automotive history that ought to be preserved. As long as it needs nothing more than the listed issues it’s well worth the price.

Now that EVs are a thing, there is a competitive effect to these fines.

How is this a penalty to automakers? All theyre going to do is transfer this to the customer, probably 3X, blame the gov’t, and rake in MORE profit.

That left taillight might have OEM condensation - that was a pretty common complaint with these earlier models...

I completely agree. At $3k this is the perfect weekend project truck for someone who has a DD that they want to keep clean. Cheap to insure, cheap to fuel, and there’s almost nothing on it that you can’t fix with hand tools and a service manual. I wouldn’t even waste my time contacting the seller with what they want

20 years ago, I woulda paid 2000 for the exact same truck, only without an additional 20 years on it.  I’d give the same for it today  ND

Nope, this truck would have cost but $5795:

This is a $3000 truck in normal times.  It’s not 4x4, it’s not in mint condition, and there isn’t $5000 worth of almonds in the bed.  Since not even one of those is true, this is No Dice for me.

TOO much, even in this alternate reality of used-car pricing. Did this even cost that much when brand new? Don’t think so. Not paying that much for a very basic, stripper work-truck with few/no options, non-working A/C, lots of rust and worn-out interior. Maybe at $5000, but it would be a reach even at that. ND

Loud pipes do not, in fact, save lives.

This is the right take. Get this as a 2nd or 3rd car,it may not be the most reliable piece in the road but it will sure be more fun than the boring appliance on wheels you see every 5 min.

Hardly the “lowliest spec”. That is a 2017 Ti Sport Q2. You mean “as loaded as you can get in 2017 without buying a Quad”.

Italian Temptress that will treat me badly and make it hurt, you have changed my mind, NP

“We’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty.”

Easy Nice Price provided you also budget for a generous after-market warranty and live within a comfortable distance from a dealer or reliable auto repair shop. I’ve driven one and these are incredibly competent sports sedans, among the most engaging you’ll ever drive. A high maintenance mistress to be sure, but worth

Never before has there been a more appropriate time for me to act my age and throw the “back when I was your age” card. Thank you for this. Because I do remember walking a mile each way in the snow to middle school, lugging my trumpet over snow drifts. High school was farther, but because I wasn’t allowed to have my

Am I the only one side-eyeing the suggestion that a 16 year old boy gets a car with 300 horsepower?

Yeah, with all of a mile between home and school, keep AAA membership up to date, have a bicycle for the days the 9-3 is laid up, and save the rest for something more fun (or responsible, as my middle-aged side is screaming) than a Chrysler 300 or something.

Let’s talk about what is wrong with the Saab, because 9-3's are great cars.
