Is there a problem with even one of the reasons she likes her car? We’d do well if more people bought cars that weren’t too big or too powerful.

The fluoride in the drinking water makes us desire shitty crossovers over capable cars.

That’s why anti-vaxxers who drink well water and avoid pizza are the only ones you can trust.

It’s really tough to argue any of those points... I think that’s why they still so much of these type of vehicles.

Precisely this. The great thing about most Hondas is that outside of routine maintenance, it will last through many Presidential elections. Sure, things may break, but generally the car will get you home.

My elderly neighbor likes hers because:

I would do it in front of the guy. Let him see me throwing the thing into a trash can.

I’d take a chance on this. It’s a Ford-era Jaguar, so it’s among the most reliable Jaguars of all time, not to say that it’s objectively so but it’s no XJ12. It also has a ton of Ford parts so it ought to be easier/cheaper to fix and won’t require a British car specialist or Lucas replacement smoke.

4K for a car to own for the next 5 months, drive in the summer, have fun and use it as a trade in when buying another car next September... sure.

Why?

I paid $700 less for a similar vintage VW TDI, nice price all day. Budget another $4k to get it mechanically sorted and have a fun little weekend convertible for less than 10 grand.

It currently runs and drives, in this day and age, that price seem fair.  For the Jag fan, this is a project car, undoing all the previous “enhancements” then getting the non-functional items, functional again.  I’ll go with a Nice Price if you are somewhat handy with a wrench.

Fer Sure! Fud-it money for a weekend drop-top Jag! Yeah yeah yeah there will be issues and repairs dealing with Brit “reliability” but you’ll have fun with the car and when it comes time to sell it, will get your money (mostly) back. Nice Price!

The Himalayan does fine for short highway stints. I prefer to keep it around 65-70 mph so there is a little extra but it can keep going at 80 on the flats (need to tuck in if there’s much wind). Vibration in the handlebar is actually fine even though you can really tell the engine is working hard.

As long as you can deal with the vibration from a big single

An excellent choice for a first bike. Cheap too. If I was looking for basic transportation, this would be exactly the kind of thing I would want. Especially for a normal sized human, the package is perfect.

I like Doug...he is good people but he also doesn’t take himself too seriously and is exponentially more famous than me...so I can give him a hard time.

Then I use a remote service like Lemon Squad that will go to the dealer. Their reports and test drives are very thorough and reasonably priced. If a dealer will not allow the inspector to come to them...big red flag.

Whatever you find, make sure you get it inspected before signing anything.
